It's been coated in a plastic finish, if I wanted a plastic sheath I would have brought one. I wanted one that was just Leather, not something like this is now, It must be waterproof but you can't stain to get a better colour or apply a leather conditioner, nothing will penetrate the outer covering. On the advert it says made from "Cattlehide " it does not say that it is plastic/ resin coated, the inside of the sheath is leather but not the outside, the size is fine. I do not understand how any one could give it five stars it's complete rubish. I should think it is a Cheap inport from China.
