I bought this 8 Terabyte SSD because I needed a SSD with a larger capacity to do a Time Machine backup of my MacBook. The SSD I was using was a Samsung T7 Shield and it worked great, but the largest capacity it comes in is 4 Terabytes. Because it worked great, I wanted to stay with Samsung, and found this one. The physical size is very compact and built really solid. I think all SSDs are overpriced, but not having to use an AC power cord is a major plus for me. My first Time Machine backup with this SSD transferred 4.27 Terabytes of data and took 3.1 hours. I don’t know if that’s fast, slow, or normal. I know from experience, the first Time Machine backup always takes a long time. Speed was not a concern, my priority was to hold a large amount of data and this SSD did the job. Very happy with this purchase.

Love the size, capacity and speed of this external hard drive! I dj, so I didn’t expect for it to work this good. It doesn’t lag and tracks load as if they were on my MacBook. 2 thumbs up!!!!!

Super fast and small, very beautiful small drive

OMG what a terrible software. It works ok on Android, but MacOS and Windows... basically does not work at all.On Windows, the Samsung Magician window with drive management does not show up at all. Many people have this issue, for years. One has to add certain -nosandbox args to the scheduled task that opens Samsung Magician on startup. Once I fixed this part and the window showed up, still no luck, the drive is not recognized by Magician.On MacOS, the Magician window shows up ok, but does see my drive even though Disk Utility sees the drive, and Android app can mount it fine.So, I use this drive in unencrypted mode now, because Samsung Magician that manages encryption is totally unusable.To summarize, this product should not exist on the face of Earth, all thanks to Samsung software engineers.

This has been a terrific backup device. I am a YouTuber and needed a way to keep my video files backed up. The only issue is it is not nearly as fast as an internal SATA SSD as in my case it is running through a regular USB A port because my computer does not have a faster USB C port. The capacity is great and I have had no problems with it.

No external drive can replace the internal ones. When I watch a 1080p video from the drive, the video will pause a few times for a couple seconds. The read speed is fast enough that if I want to watch a large video, I simply copy it to the internal drive. It doesn't take long.I bought this after using a hard disk drive but it had a capacity of 5 TB and I had nearly 4.5 TB in files on it.I would give the drive 5 stars but the weakness is that the drive will heat up to the point that it shuts down. That means I have to disconnect it periodically and let it cool down.

I’m normally a Samsung t7 or t9 fan, but I thought I would give this hard drive a spin (pun intended) and I was pleasantly surprised. While working on location with this hard drive inside a pickup truck exposed to dust, humidity, snow, and rain this hard drive delivered. Excellent design!Not only did it work well but I was pleasantly surprised by its write speed and its storage capacity! For the price it is definitely worth it.
