like other people
The major general problem I had with the BOYO CARROBOT C2 LITE, is it's lack of functionality. I was hoping to somewhat replace my Navdy, since the company went under. However, when I replace an item, like other people, I want the equivalent, or better. The Carrobot C2 Lite is neither. It actually seems like a product that was distributed to pacify it's Indiegogo backers. When you go to the website you will see what seems to be a full function product Carrobot, but there is no further information on the development, or current distribution. On the Indiegogo website, information only refers to the C2.I recommend that if you want a HUD that actually have useful functionality, instead of a mere projection of your phone, wait for the actual Carrobot, and don't waste our hard earned bucks on this "Beta" product, especially if you are use to a superior product like the Navdy HUD.Oh YES, I sent this back, and was happy to be refunded.

Well built HUD for cars
This product is great, but it's cutting edge tech, which makes it slightly difficult to setup the software end of things. This is a Chinese based company and sells a more advanced version of the product in China; the product is quite popular there, judging from the research that I've done. The product has been around in China for a number of years, so the hardware itself is very well developed. Vision Tech America is the Chinese company's American arm, so do a Google search to find the latest firmware and apps for Android and iPhone.Hardware installation was extremely easy and the hardware is of excellent build quality. I own a Lincoln MKS and was able to easily connect the cables to my phone and the OBD II port, and hide the cables in and under the dash; I'm happy to say that the device turns on/off properly without draining the battery and the provided connection for the cell phone also charges the cell phone when the Carrobot device is powered on. As a base, the device projects speed in MPH or KPH and a basic tachometer, both using real-time information obtained through the OBD II connection; this information is automatically projected without using a connection to a cell phone or any app.I use the Sygic navigation app with this product and it works extremely well, providing clear map details and turn by turn instructions; it's a true AR experience using this app and the Carrobot hardware. Using Android phones, you can also use Google Assistant to open the apps. The screen is very clear and projects a transparent HUD virtually a few feet in front of the driver's vision, but is in no way distracting. It's very easy to glance down at the HUD to view the information without having your eyes lose focus on the road.Even though the hardware installation was easy, the documentation should be upgraded to reflect recent changes in the Android operating system in particular. For novices, in order to be able to connect the device to an Android phone via USB cable you must ensure that USB debugging is enabled; to do this in newer phones, go to settings> About Phone> Build Number and tap Build Number 7 times to enable developer options. Once the Developer Options have been enabled, go to Settings> Developer Options> and turn on USB Debugging. Once that's done, you simply enable tethering to connect to the device. You also have to download the Carrobot app from the Vision Tech America site and install it on the phone by allowing unkown sources; to do this, just copy the app to your phone and click on it using a file explorer, Android will then ask if you wish to allow installation from unknown sources and just select yes.I would give this product five stars if not for the fact that the Carrobot app is so limited. The Chinese version provides full navigation integration with a few navigation apps and also allows for full cell phone, texting and social media integration. The company has stated that they are hoping to fully develop the English app to include the same features and I hope they do so soon.Update 11/25/2019Still using this device and it’s still working well. The company hasn’t updated the native app or features but it’s still great for displaying speed and maps via screen mirroring. I highly recommend it.

Not very compatible with Android
This is basically the same device as the Hudway Cast. With the advent of Android 6, the protocol Miracast is being phased out in favor of Chromecast, which is not compatible with this device. Also, some phones either lock the USB access outside of root, or don't support it entirely (which locks out usb otg).
