A simple product that actually works
Mrs M is well impressed with these plant supports. After staking, tying & nailing the Lupins & Peonys to keep them upright and in some kind of order, we discover this spiral wonder. They are just great and easy to use. Many thanks

Spiral Magic
First saw these supports at Malvern Spring Show. Tried them and found they are so much better than just a half loop support. You can add to a growing plant and just twist to draw the stems in towards the middle - genus. No more flipping plants. Now have 9 around garden and could still use some more!

Stand Out in a Crowd - for the wrong reasons
I am always on the lookout for supports to protect flowering plants from the rigours of the good old British summer but was disappointed by these spirals, which ended up causing more damage to the plants than the wind and the rain alone would have done. The stainless steel spiral top needs to be wound around the stems of established plants (or positioned above a developing plant in the hope it will grow through). It is tricky although not impossible to achieve this after a few practice runs - I damaged a few tender shoots initially, which was slightly galling given the purpose was supposed to be protection... Once the flowering stems are fully inserted, the spiral is held in place with a single rod at the centre of the spiral. To start with the supports appeared to be doing a good job but after a few days (of light rain) it became clear that the single support in the centre is not fully up to the job of holding the spiral in place. Several spirals came entirely free of their support and flopped sideways, which broke further stems. A few more days' exposure resulted in all spirals tilting to some extent; none remained horizontal and so all plants bent with the supports and further stems were broken. Instead of offering support and protection, these spirals exacerbated the effects of the wind and rain with the result the plants would have been better off left to their own devices. Unfortunately, the stainless steel also meant that the supports stood out in the flower bed rather than being an unseen force, although that did make it easier to locate each one when I decided enough was enough.

Keeps the garden tidy and in good order.
Excellent for taller flowers and plants that tend to droop or fall over. I use mine at present for taller daffodils but later for lillies.
