A great story for teenagers
I saw Benjamin on the One Show because he’s brought out a new book. I thought I’d try an earlier book first and I really enjoyed this. I loved all the characters and the story was excellent. It is perfect for high school aged children as I’m sure a lot would relate to the teenagers in the book even if their lives are different.A much earlier review described the whole of the book without putting *Spoiler* at the top. I could tell from the language that the writer of this was a young person from the US. It was significant that she said nothing about the violence but thought it wasn’t suitable for young readers because of the “cussing”.I will be reading more of Benjamin’s stories and poems. He is brilliant.

Another excellent read from Benjamin Zephaniah
Having read much of his poetry I purchased Face, which i very much enjoyed, so I purchased Refuge Boy and enjoyed it so much I purchased this book. Benjamin Zephaniah's fiction seems to get better and better, and the quality is probably because it is based on good observation, and written in a style that draws the reader into the situation to experience what the characters are going through in a way that not so many writters are able to do. All his work seems to have a moral tale to tell, which I also enjoy so I am not certain why the chap who gave this book just 1 star seemed to think it was glamourising the subject, but my guess is that if he has read it, he didn't get much further than the title. I think this book should be compulsory reading for all MP's then perhaps they would do the things which could really make a difference to prevent all youths from becoming disenfranchised from society

Great for teenagers
I gave this book a 5 star was it is brilliantly written. My eldest son is dyslexic and has literacy skill difficulties but he seemed to have no fewer difficulties with this book understanding the story etc. This author also wrote a book called The Face which is also highly recommended for teenager mums who like myself have difficulties in finding books that my son will want to read, so go buy both these books and you will not be disappointed.

Changed my life..
This book has changed my life. I know people will be surprised by that, but I live in a very sheltered rural community, and this book really opened my eyes to the different life so many live. I was gripped the whole way through and I couldn't put it down. Would recommend to all. The book, when I recieved it, was in perfect condition, and continues to be, despite constant thumbing through!

Mistake
I brought this book by mistake and thought that it would be a book of poems or raps by Benjamin Zephaniah the poet. However, it is a novel and may be of interest to others within that context.
