Not As Strong As Book 1, But Still Fun
Overall I think I enjoyed this second installment in this series, but I think within the confines of the series it self, I found it a bit more lacking compared to book 1.The pacing in book 1 was pretty solid, but it really feels like we went from a nice powerwalk to a full on Usain Bolt sprint in book 2. I think some of this just comes from the fact that maybe the author isn't interested in telling a "classic" progression story -- à la Wight's Cradle. The downside is that it feels like there are a lot of elements in the story that just don't get the TLC that were there in the first book. I really enjoyed the scientific exploration aspect that was brought in book 1 and while it was here in book 2, I'm beginning to wonder if the author is putting it off to the side. You also have the large cast of characters who all have things they are trying to overcome, but because the cast is just _so_ large now; no one really gets page time to explore matters. And in some cases it feels like some characters just vanished in the back half of the book (Labby, Twilight, Silverlight, Sheldon).I still like the tone of the story telling. I think the characters are fun and react in ways that seem believable to me. The worldbuilding is familiar but also remixes the elements in an enjoyable way. And so far the author has been careful to not drag us through every cultivation story trope there is.While book 2 wasn't at the same level as book 1, I still have high hopes for this series and will be looking forward to book 3.

Felt bit rushed
I felt like it could have been longer. Especially when you consider the previous one. In the first book the first rule was discovered around the middle this one it was at the end. No real ramification for discovering it. The plot moved quickly and the main characters power exploded... Also I feel like whenever I read these stories where a world is 2x or more larger than earth that the author doesn't understand how big earth is and how long it takes to walk from on spot to another... Other than these things the story is pretty good.

Surprised at the unexpected
I personally love reading Wuxia/Xianxia novels and very rarely stick to one that has promise. But this one has seriously exploded my curiosity. After finishing the first book on audio I got the second expecting more slow story building like a typical sect member MC on the novels but the twists and turns were magnificent. 10/10 tbh

Freaking amazing
Read this book. Read this series. There is truly enough material here for two or three books, so take your time and absorb it as you go. There is a LOT going on.Our hero, Lu Jie (loo jee-ah approximately), remembers his previous life on Earth. This helps him on his dual- soul path, but it was slow going until they merged in the last book. In this book, Jie aquires even more spirit animals and plants. Including the World Tree he has from before. Also, I'm shipping hard for Jie and the lovely Shie heir. He accepts her for who and what she is, is NOT scared of her, and children will not be an issue, as they were for her poor mother. She can bear them without any damage. No more hints. This one borders on being a spoiler. 😉It is an awesome story. Please read it and support this hard-working writer.9/10 unicorns 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄No typos, world-building spot-on, characters do nothing but develop!

not as good as the first book but very interesting story.
There are aspects about the main character I don’t like and I felt like a lot of the first characters didn’t have a lot of character development. Looking forward to the third book.

Another good book
One main character. Okay for teens. Fast paced story. Want to see more in this series. Hope to read more soon.

A little too fast paced
In the second book, things go too fast. How do the MC, or any one else, progress this fast? So the book is lacking about development details, but it's full with heart felt struggles of people, as they try to find their places in challenging times.I like this series and I'll read the third book when it will be released. But cultivation details were what the first book did well and this book just fast-forwarded.I'm looking forward for the next book. Author, please improve proofing before release.

Great story but
The story in these 2 books is good but the author really needs an editor to fine tune his/her writing. Too many missed words, awkward sentences and minor mistakes. They distract from the story line.

Everything that was good about the first book is missing
The detailed cultivation and alchemy from the first book is replaced by kingdom building and politics. The spirit beasts aren't completely forgotten just replaced as labby has maybe 3 sentence the entire book. And if you were hoping for interesting fight scenes all you get is a forced tournament and the power of friendship (friendship chi).
