Nice Waffle Iron, Nonstick Plates and Anti-Overflow Moat Work Well If You Follow the Directions
I ordered this waffle iron after trying another brand that I didn't like at all. I found this one to be very easy to use and the batter scoop is a nice addition. I started with a 1/2 cup of batter in the scoop, as the instructions recommended, and that seemed to work well. The anti-overflow moat seemed to work as intended. I only had a little overflow into the moat using a 1/2 cup of batter per waffle. Perhaps users who had a bad experience with overflow used more than a 1/2 cup of batter? Also, the nonstick plates functioned well and were easy to clean. I sprayed them with avocado oil spray on the first two waffles I made, but tried it without spraying them for a third waffle and had no issues with sticking. I used the "2" setting of doneness, which seemed to cook them nicely. I might experiment with other settings but 2 was suitable. I switched to this waffle iron after a disastrous experience with another brand (that is one of the top search results on Amazon), where the waffle stuck very badly, and it was a nightmare to clean after a significant amount of overflow. I like this iron much better and had a dramatically better experience using it than the first iron I bought. I recommend this one!

The Lip Won’t Save You, BUT Great Waffles!
I already had a waffle maker that worked very well, but only made 2 small square ones at a time, which ultimately was a time-intensive endeavor when making them for more than myself. I opted to upgrade to this one to speed up the job. The outer lip that prevented overflow was certainly no insignificant factor that led me to selecting this one. It does, in fact, make excellent waffles and cleans up easily, too, BUT don’t even bother pretending that the outer overflow lip is going to save you from having batter dripping down the sides. Resign yourself to the reality, place it on a surface that’s easy to wipe down, and have a damp sponge or paper towels handy to clean off the exterior while you’re at it. Easy enough! The one small downside is the EXTREMELY short electrical cord on the appliance. While I understand the “safety” rationale, it dramatically complicates where you can use it, and truthfully, necessitates using a power strip if you have the routine gamut of kitchen appliances you use daily already competing for counter space. Not ideal, but reality rarely is. All in all, while not the revolutionary “mess-free” waffle maker of my dreams, it is a solid, consistently-performing one that makes tasty waffles and that’s what matters most to me!

Great purchase!
Not bad. Definitely worth its money. It does the job and waffle comes out perfect and fast. I think the temperature setting might be slightly off just a little bit. And I mean very little bit. Otherwise, it is very good for what its intended for.

Everyone Needs One!
The Chefman Anti-Overflow Belgian Waffle Maker w/Shade Selector, Temperature Control, Mess Free Moat, Round Iron w/Nonstick Plates & Cool Touch Handle, w/Measuring Cup Included, and in the Black color arrived in perfect new condition. I followed the simple directions as set forth in the instruction manual. I plugged in the Chefman Anti-Overflow Belgian Waffle Maker w/Shade Selector and set the shade to 3 on the dial. I immediately noticed that there is no on or off switch. It immediately starts to heat when plugged in and turns off only when unplugged. The temperature control and the shade selector are basically the only controls you have and I really have no problem with that. I just have to remember to unplug the waffle maker when I am finished using it. I purposely left it sit unplugged when I was finished making waffles and waited to see what would happen. Well, the green indicator light which tells you it is heating keeps turning off and on. The red indicator light remains on telling you it is plugged in untill you pull the electric cord plug from your wall outlet. Pulling the plug is the on and off switch. This waffle maker is only 700 watts but it heats up FAST and HOT. I found after several uses that number 2 on the dial is perfect for my taste in waffles. Number 3 is as high as I would ever use for waffles. I found that when I was in a hurry and just dumped all the waffle batter ingredients into the mixing bowl and gave it a quick stir to the correct consistancy the batter was cold and 3 on the dial worked perfectly for the first 2 waffles . Here is the deal folks. If you want your waffle to have a little moisture left in them when they hit your plate you got to take them out IMMEDIATELY or else you have tasteless-dried out- crumbling pieces of cardboard on your plate that won't even soak up butter or syrup. The baking powder recipe waffle batters turn tasteless and dry very quickly. My g-grandmother's yeast waffle batter is the best and cooks thoroughly and comes out with just the right moisture content on 2 on the dial. You will notice steam start pouring out at a very fast rate from the waffle maker just as the green indicator light goes off. Do not dilly dally around and leave the waffle in the maker as it will keep drying out and will burn and smell like burnt toast instead of a nice vanilla flavored fork tender waffle. You want crispnes but not brunt hockey pucks. The waffle releases easily from the non-stick plates. I have never used the measuring cup included with the Chefman Anti-Overflow Belgian Waffle Maker because I try to use as few cups and spoons as possible. I use a metal one half cup measuring with a handle and it fill it just to the rim to pour my waffle batter onto the waffle plate. I close the waffle maker and the lid locks into place perfectly and in less than 2 minutes the waffle is done. I found that giving the batter I just poured onto the waffle plate a quick leveling out with the measuring cup gives me a perfect round waffle with no voids and no overflowing. But if it does overflow the nice overflow rim catches it all. Folks this is a very nice easy to use waffle maker. As always practice makes perfect and just like when making pancakes you usually mess up the first one. The left overs freeze nicely and warm easily in the toaster. You just got to remember that they dry out fast. I found that it is when you add ingredients like berries or chocolate chips that you get waffles that stick to the waffle plates. I fooled around a bit and tried using this waffle maker as a panini maker and to grill cheese. You can get it to work but it just isn't worth all the mess and work involved. The Chefman Anti-Overflow Belgian Waffle Maker w/Shade Selector cleans up really easily. It also stores nicelly standing up on it's edge. The cord storage is also a nice feature. The fact that the waffle maker is small was the selling point for me. I have a large waffle iron that makes 4 square waffles at a time but unless I am having a crowd in for brunch it's not ptactical for this single empty nester. I personally have perfected my g-grandmothers yeast waffle batter recipe so that I get maybe 3 waffles from one small bowl of batter. The only thing I find wrong with the waffle maker is that the black finish which I selected because it was on sale at a huge savings is that the finish is matte and shows all of your oily or buttery finger prints, They come off but a smooth gloss finish would have been better. The Chefman Anti-Overflow Belgian Waffle Maker w/Shade Selector is a great product and a really good buy when it is on sale. It is nothing more than what it claims to be and in it's price range. Buy it and you will be glad you did. No bells and whistles just a plain easy to use waffle maker. Sorry that this is a long review but I like reviews and testimonials all wrapped into one. You wanted a review and now you got one from a classically trained retired chef.

Produces a good waffle
I didn’t know what to expect when I ordered this, but I am glad I did. The first waffle didn’t turn out very well as I overfilled it and didn’t know how long to cook it. The second one was perfect and the third one was even better. There is obviously a learning curve to figure out the correct amount of batter to pour into it. The waffle filled a good sized plate leaving room to add the meat of my choice. My one issue is that I kept forgetting to turn down the temperature control after heating it on high. One of the surprises was the warning “Do not use nonstick sprays”. I followed the directions to brush the plated with vegetable oil, specifically avocado oil. The pancakes released easily and did not leave a mess. The one flaw in the instructions is the failure to tell you how to know when cooking is complete. Cleaning, after it cooled down, was easy with a damp cloth. I recommend turning the handle to the closed position, clockwise, for storage. This will eliminate the possibility of it opening when moving it around by the handle.

Truly a non-stick wonder!
Finally—the waffle maker of my dreams. Shipped in secure packaging without a lot of wasted materials. This is the second Chefman product I’ve purchased. been impressed with both. I appreciate the attention to functionality. This product stands on end for storage making it very space-efficient. It has a lock that keeps the item from flopping open. There is a power light that illuminates when plugged in. There’s also an illuminated Ready button along with a selector for levels of doneness. Level 4 is (for us) perfect—golden, crisp outside, tender inside. Now for the REAL MAGIC—nothing sticks! Breakfast waffles, savory cornmeal/jalapeño waffles, even the compressed foam pad that came inside! That was a major oops and I feared I had ruined it but, no! The melted mess fell off with zero sticking. I couldn’t be happier with this attractive, affordable and easy-peasy waffle maker.

Cooks waffle evenly! Both top and bottom, and from edge to edge.
The best waffle maker I ever had was made in Italy, maybe in the 80's-before Belgian waffles became so popular. These waffles were nice and thick, & cooked perfectly. I have spent a lot of money over time trying to another perfect waffle maker. Wow! The Chefman Anti-Overflow Belgian Waffle maker is a perfect replacement. The waffles are thick, but not Belgian waffle thick, cooked perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Use 1/2 for batter, or use the cup included then the overflow will contain the extra bit of waffle. I like the 7 heat settings, the sturdy build of the waffle maker, the working cord holder as well as the good size of the waffle. The way the waffle maker cooks seems just right, not too fast and not too hot. Also the top and the bottom of the waffles were cooked evenly, unlike many of the waffle makers I have tried.

Works well with good features; not quite what we were looking for.
We purchased this to replace our favorite waffle iron that I accidentally broke. It’s good, but I’ll highlight some pros and cons. Pros: *It’s very clean! Because it sits flat, no oil from the cooking spray drips out. *It’s very easy to use. *The overflow prevention is seriously amazing! That’s a huge benefit compared to our old one. *Its very clean heats up very quickly. Cons: *The waffles are *very* thin, as opposed to our old one that made very thick, fluffy waffles. *The waffles don’t get very crispy even on the higher settings. It’s a well-made waffle maker with some great features, but I’d probably take more time selecting one next time to ensure we get one that makes bigger, fluffier waffles.

Absolutely amazing waffle maker
This waffle maker cooks waffles to perfection. And the waffles are so big. The anti-overflow works amazing. I don’t know what other people are talking about that said it didn’t. Maybe they have an older model. But mine works great. All it is, is an extended cooking surface so any batter that goes outside of the waffle grooves just gets cooked rather than making a mess. I liked it having a bit of an extra edge from the anti-overflow surface, it made it easier to get the waffle out. And if you’re worried about presentation you can easily cut or pull the edges off for a cleaner look. It’s fool proof. It tells you when to put the batter in and when the waffle is done. It has multiple level setting based on how browned you want your waffle. I cooked mine on level 3 (medium) for reference. It’s compact and light. It’s easy to clean, I just wiped it down with a cloth, nothing sticks to it. It was so easy to use my 5 year old was making waffles with my supervision.

Funciona genial, los wafles quedan impresionantes, lamentablemente al usarla el primer día, identificamos que suena algo por dentro, como una pieza suelta, alguien sabe como puedo tramitar la garantía????

Makes the perfect waffle!!
Flawless waffles. Follow any recipe and this thing will make them perfect every time. I make normal waffles and sometimes add some blueberries so not much cleanup needed. Gets nice and hot for extra crispy with the right recipe :) I would buy another one and recommend absolutely to my family and friends. Thank you chef man and Amazon!!
