Schramm® 2 Pieces Salt and Pepper Mill in a Set Approx. 13cm Spice Mills Manual Stainless Steel unfilled with Ceramic Grinding Mechanism

I bought these to replace a set of older salt and pepper grinders which had lost their edge and mojo. They're quite topsy turvy compared to other sets I've owned and despite the metal disc at the base, which stops the excess grains from littering the table, I fear that they'll be lost before I know it. They're quite heavy too as the clear part is made from glass instead of the normal acetate.I like them though. Swift delivery and a superb price; German design at its best.

I’ve ordered these before and there not as well crafted as before. The lids do not fit properly and they are sharp. Also the glass bottoms are a lot more fragile. The necks of the bottles smash when using. I ordered 10 sets of there which 6 sets are already broken.The first ones I ordered a year ago where 5* these new ones are 1*

The set feels good in the hand - nice and solid. It grinds well, too. The onlt thing that irritates me a little is the lid - I quite like the idea of the lid, but it's a mild pain to get on and off when I want some pepper; and the grinder won't stand upside-down without it.

These were great to start with but the mechanism broke in the pepper one after a while as it’s not very strong at all unfortunately. Shame as they were perfect initially

These work fine and have removable metal caps. But for some reason I prefer to still use the ready to use disposable pepper grinders. These are definitely mansized so no constant refilling. I think it’s the width that puts me off. Even though they dispense in the same way as the disposable ones, they just feel odd to use.

I purchased based on the reviews that I read - I am happy with my every day salt/pepper mill but needed a grinder for Hilmalayan food grade salt.Being able to buy two at this price, was a bonus - I shall use the spare one for grinding mixed herbs.Absolutely brilliant quality - weighty with them being glass and steel, but the grinding I have to say is better than my more expensive ones.Really pleased with them - would definitely recommend. Rather larger than expected but not a problem, means I don't have to fill up so regularly. Good grind and well made. I would have preferred a flip lid or maybe no lid at all but I can live with it.

Probably my own fault for not checking what I was buying - but not great ... The salt/pepper comes out of (in this picture) the top of the mills - ie you have to take off the metal discs at the top each time you use the mills - and I can see that one, t'other or both discs are going to get lost really quickly. The fineness/coarseness of the grinding can be adjusted via a plastic screw under the metal disc - but it keeps getting cross-threaded. lastly - they don't feel right in the hand - too squat for the height and the weight balance feels wrong.
