Didn't last a year but was worth the purchase.
Update: I was contacted and ended up receiving a replacement for the item that stopped working. Customer service was excellent! I highly recommend purchasing due to the quick response and support provided.I was extremely satisfied with my purchase when I got it. It worked great and having RA, it really helped me out. It is one year ago this month that I had purchased it and sadly, three months ago, it just quit. No sound when turned on and no spinning. I am guessing the motor went out on it? Using it for nine months was beneficial but recommend keeping this in mind when purchasing.

If you have issues with your hands, this is a MUST! I LOVE it! Works very well!
I don't usually write reviews but for this product, I just want to quickly say that I love it. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis and this makes caking yarns so simple for me and it works out so well. There are little notches under the spring to help guide the yarn, which I didn't see the first time I wound up some yarn and I wasn't happy but then I found those notches and since then, this yarn winder is really perfect. It is not the products fault if sometimes there are knots at the end of a yarn skein that need worked out, you would have to deal with that in any circumstance, in fact, it takes care of some of the looser knots that can happen at the end of a skein. I highly recommend this, especially for folks with hand issues. It is definitely worth it. Now, I just pray it lasts a long time. ;)

Electric ball winder
So far I am loving the electric ball winder. I'm 81 so the manual ones are too tiring. This one also has good tension so the balls are more tightly wound. I still crochet a lot so it will be used often.

The Pros and Cons
(*Cracks Knuckles*) I’ve been waiting to type this review until I’d put this machine through changes, and well we’re 15 skeins in and counting. I’m not sure why companies have decided that consumers only need a cord to power their devices, but this is another that annoyingly comes without a charging block. That aside, this machine works reasonably okay, is easy to store, and has saved me time in winding. It’s easy to assemble and secure to your table for use. There are settings to adjust how fast it winds the yarn. I have found that the machine needs to be on a pretty high setting if you want a skein that doesn’t eventually fall apart after winding (for worsted weight or heavier yarns). I’m not sure about its durability - as others have noted. This thing clicks and whirs in a way that makes you think it’s going to quit at any second. It has sufficiently met my needs, but it’ll be interesting to see how long it actually lasts. Finally, I don’t love that it slightly shaves the yarn because it needs to be passed through a couple of grooves and springs to secure it to the device. It’s a great start but needs some improvements to be a device that I recommend to all of my fellow knitters. For now, I’ll keep it because I hate hand winding yarn and have a number of skeins that need to be made into cakes. Once it dies, I’ll search for a different device.UPDATE: The seller contacted me and actually invited my feedback. They took into account my concerns about the slight yarn shaving caused by the affixing the yarn to the machine and suggested alternatives - including not using all of the springs. I so appreciate that they are reading comments and taking the feedback of their customers to heart. I added a star and give them an A+++ for customer service for this.

Definitely a headache saver!
The media could not be loaded. Works great! Very easy to assemble. If you are weary of trying to find the center pull of your yarn skein, this is for you. It creates easy-to-use center pulls in neat cakes of yarn. It takes about 2 minutes to do 90 yards of yarn (seen in video). I found that it works best on high speed. I did 5 90-yards skeins the first night I got it, but I didn’t want to risk burning it up.Only one skein required my assistance while on the machine and that wasn’t the machines fault. I wouldn’t leave it unattended while it’s running, though. The purple color is cute.Note: the power cable requires a USB port or a USB brick that does not come with it.

Parts don’t match instructions
Set up was easy enough. It came partially together so I only had to put one screw. However, according to the installation guide, the shaft should have both an indicator line, where the yarn should stay below, and a notch at the top to press the yarn into so you can access it after caking. The indicator line, fine, there are little notches in the angled pieces at the bottom of the shaft, so I can work with that. But the notch missing at the top? It makes it difficult to know if I’ll be able to access once it’s done. I can put a notch, I suppose, but why should I have to. I’ll update when I’ve figured something out and actually have made a cake

Your wrists will thank you
Easy to use and a decent winder. It’s a little slow but I may need to upgrade my swift.
