PUSH Ortho Thumb Brace CMC

I have spent the same amount and more on many different splints and braces: I should just have bought this one. It is the perfect answer for the right condition(s) - in my case arthritis connected with the trapezoid bone. The consultant suggested the bone could be removed once it became too painful, but with a significant loss of strength following. This device offers support for the bone, reducing if not eliminating the painful movements and seemingly providing a bit more strength for the thumb. I found it initially a little uncomfortable where the strapping wraps around the hand, but that disappeared after a few hours. It seems perfect for long-term use, just needing washing once a day I suspect. I bought the large (size 3) version (with measurement around the hand of 23cm) I suspect the size 2 might also have been fine, there is plenty of spare strapping. I don't know if the thumb support itself is smaller with the size 2, if it is then it is that which really is the deciding factor for sizing. I have quite 'chubby' hands; if I had large but slender hands and the size 2 had a smaller thumb support that would have been the better choice. Squeezing the thumb support requires a bit of effort - and if you have the same problem on both hands (I do) you might find it difficult to exert enough force yourself, so someone else might need to do it for you: the metal insert is nowhere near is flimsy as the aluminium strips you find in many splints, and it's all the better for that. I have the same problem in both hands and the left-hand support is arriving today: I can hardly wait. All in all, I heartily recommend this device, and suggest you don't waste money on any of the cheaper "alternatives" if you have the appropriate condition.

I hadn't had much luck with thumb supports but this one is really good. Fits well and supports my thumb really well. I have problems at night and this works well. Only downside is that it gets a bit sweaty if I use when walking or otherwise active. Much better than any 'soft' supports and easy to live with.

The splint supports the base of the thumb well, but you need a fair bit of tension to be effective. This can be a bit uncomfortable over a long period. Quite expensive for what it is.

Great support, less bulky than the neoprene supports & more comfortable. Have now bought one for my left hand.

A bit pricey. Sturdy, but after wearing for a few hours, can cause cramping. Good when doing heavy or repetitive tasks, though.

A relatively expensive product for what it is, but it certainly does the job well. Not something I could wear all day as the firm plastic surrounding the CMC joint tends to dig into the skin, but for jobs requiring a stable thumb, I would recommend it. Certainly better than elasticated braces.

Vivamente consigliato dalla dottoressa ortopedista che mi sta seguendo nell'evolvere di questa patologia artrosica l'ho acquistato già sapendo di ricevere un prodotto valido. Ho la rizoartrosi bilaterale in stato avanzato e pur se ovviamente questo tutore non costituisce una cura devo dire che il dolore ,che accompagnava qualsiasi tipo di movimento della mano, è quasi sparito e l'azione di questo tutore è riuscito a far sfiammare la zona in sole ventiquattrore. Ottimo acquisto, anche se immagino che in un futuro non troppo lontano dovrò decidermi ad affrontare la soluzione chirurgica. Il prodotto è di semplice impiego, non copre la mano in maniera eccessiva e induce una pressione sul punto corrispondente al trapezio. Cosa che permette di compiere, in maniera limitata, i tanti movimenti che servono alla pratica giornaliera delle varie incombenze manuali. Inoltre è lavabile e si porta per lunghi periodi senza fastidi. Consigliatissimo.

This thumb brace provides excellent support for thumb injuries. It arrived well packaged and easy to slip on. Although this is one of the more expensive thumb braces on the market, the quality and longevity is what matters. While others use a material based strap, this brace uses a silicone based strap which is quite easy to wipe down.
