Joytech Music Tesla Coil Acrylic Base Shell Arc Plasma Loudspeaker Wireless Transmission Experiment Desktop Toy Model (YS01)

This was a really great little gadget, which I purchased to explain electricity and frequency without having to crack open a textbook. It worked fantastically until I had to replace the electrode. No big deal at first because I just ordered it from the seller. But when I installed it something happened and it shorted or something. Since then I have not been able to power it on. It works well but seems a bit fragile when maybe we could benefit from more circuit protection at this price point.

This is a great tesla coil, small enough to be not too intimidating but still a respectable device. The plasma speaker music capability works well. A birthday gift for my husband; he likes it a lot. Just a minor problem: LED D1 on the 4-arm windmill was missing, reducing the visual effect. The missing mass may make the windmill wobble a bit, and without D1, the reverse voltage blew out D3. I don't see a way to order a replacement part, or ask them to send a new one.

It arrived broken with the secondary coil tube separate from the main body. This was the second unit I received in this condition. Luckily, this one had enough wire that I was able to resolder the coil wire and stick the coil tube back on. After it was repaired, it worked great. Very pleased with it now. Sends purple sparks out the top and I can smell the ozone that it produces. (Use in a ventilated area) I have not tried the speaker function yet. I’m happy with the product, BUT they need to work on packing it better to prevent damage during shipping. I gave it 4 stars for this reason, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

This thing is very fun and thought provoking. I sounds surprisingly well, not that you would use it to listen to music for long but there is something fun about interacting with the music through a plasma ark. So many other little things to explore too. I had seen past reviews saying the music didn't work. I have two audio output jacks on my computer, one worked one did not. I bet it's common. It's made well, a touch on the small side but fun.

I wasn’t sure what to expect because of the low cost and small size, but this is a very cool, true Tesla coil. The sound comes from the arc, it lights the included bulbs when placed nearby, and the little sparks and light patterns are beautiful to see. To light the bigger bulb, turn on the coil without an attachment on top (just for short periods of time without attachment, per instructions). But don’t get too close with the bulb - we burned a hole in our bulb and released the gas inside). Love this purchased. I am so impressed with it.

I used it 3 times and was amazing as shown in the photos. The problem is that the 4th time, the cable was very hot and I suspected that the power supply was broken. I purchased another power supply wit the same volts, that means 24v output and when I plugged it it BUM! and a piece of plastic jumped around the room. I guess it was part of the Transistor. Will be nice if the provider will give a recommendation in how to fix it. Its so great that I want to repair it but not sure how.

I have been making teaching gear and teaching with it for 40 years and I consider myself a pretty good craftsman. I was bracing myself to receive a real piece of junk when I ordered this Tesla Coil. It is small and delicate but the care, craftsmanship, and even "love" that was put into the design, materials, and build of this product certainly equals the quality of anything that I have built. Lots of copper and brass as well as a heat-sink/fan to keep the solid state parts cool. "Abnormally" elegant product in this day and age.

This coil absolutely stuns everyone I demo it to. Educational value: I have given two talks with this so far, it captivates students and I get rapt attention when I explain the basics of transformers and AC, this really punctuates the talk. If you are buying this as a cool speaker.. what are you thinking? The audio is clear.. but not casual-listening clear. Works better than advertised, includes some niftiness and holding up lightbulbs to it is just too cool for words.
