ex-marine memories
This was a gift to my future son in law, for my daughter to see things he went thru. Very good. They enjoyed it very much.

This movie is about Marine Recruit training.
I would have like more video coverage of the different stages of training, perhaps a longer movie. I wished they had followed the same recruits from begining to end of training, but it was still very good for my son (interested in joining the Marines) to see. It was great there was no voice-over, just the sounds of what was going on around the camera. I liked the fact the cameras kept rolling even when the recruits weren't doing or saying anything amazing, very realistic!

Hollywood Boot Camp Rough Cut
This film focuses on the faces of the recruits as they are immersed in the Marine Corps. It has no plot, no central character, and no real focus other than the men themselves as they struggle through the process of shedding their civilian selves to become Marines. Shot in a documentary style, it follows one group through the process. Their faces tell the story. I would have liked to have seen a little counterbalance to the recruits. The DI's are merely tempest that storm through the frame. Although fearsome, they come across as being pretty one-dimensional. But all in all, Ears Open Eyeballs Click gives people who have not experienced the rigors of boot camp a very honest, first person view of the journey.

Not impressed
I bought this for my fiance who was a Marine and neither he nor I was impressed with this movie. He recalls boot camp much differently then what is portrayed here. Sometimes he would see something that reminded him of what happened there but for the most part he was correcting the movie. It was boring and slow and less behind the scenes than a purposefully made movie with every event planned. I am unhappy with this purchase especially because I looked for this darn movie for almost a year so that he could see it.
