Practice Makes Perfect Mastering Vocabulary

Good book. Will introduce or reinforce vocabulary words with exercises. However, it's effectiveness really depends upon a student's current vocabulary level. That makes it difficult to asses without seeing the vocabulary words themselves ahead of time. Review never hurts, of course, but I want a book to increase vocabulary, not review. But that problems exists with any vocabulary book. If you feel your child is at grade level with his vocabulary, this may be a good starting point. My seventh grader knew a little more than half of the words so it served as a review and as builder of new vocabulary.

We have been using this book for 3 weeks and it is amazing. I have my daughter look the words up in a dictionary and then we make a set of vocabulary cards for the week (index cards with a ring on the corner and a hole punch) and on this card is the word, a sentence and the definition. She enjoys doing them and the practice sheets are good for her to work on one per day. I liked this book so much I bought the grammar version to bring into our curriculum too

I rarely write reviews, but I had to for this product. In a nutshell, it's perfect! It is exactly what I need for my students. If you are an educator, you will love the organization. Each lesson starts off with a word list that gives the spelling, part of speech, and definition. This is followed by 2 or so practice activities. If you wanted to, you could easily use one of the activities as a quiz.

Good book for a kid in middle school to expand his vocabulary or just at least get exposed to different words. My son has learned the meaning of many words he did not know before and I made him learn the spelling of some of them. I like this book.

Helped wife as a supplement learning English

My daughter will be going into High School this year and I was concerned about her lack of vocabulary I purchased this book to try to help her learn some new words every time she completes a chapter she gets a small reward like some extra time on her tablet or to stay up a little later. I would say the book is the perfect compromise between being easy enough for her to do on her own yet challenging enough for her to really have to focus and pay attention and actually learn something while completing it. I'm very happy with my purchase and I'm hoping to find additional books with more vocabulary words to help her continue to expand her reading and writing comprehension

The book is as it says but the students are not a huge fan of the layout.
