Amazing combination of poetry and art. My brother is really into Basquiat's art, and I gave him this book for his graduation. The editor did an amazing job with matching the illustrations to Angelou's poem -- I wish I could see more of her work!

Bought this book for my nephew before he started kindergarten .The story reminds young children (or adults) to be brave in the face of obstacles or new experiences.

Enjoy this book a good representation of the artist. It was very inspiring.

This is a Beautiful Book. A glorious combination of Poetry by Maya Angelou and the Eclectic Artistry ofJean-Michel Basquiat. Two of my favorite Creative Minds blended together in one fabulous piece!

Bought this for my first grandchild. Love the illustrations and positive message. I also bought a copy for myself.

Someone gave me this in the early 1990s when my baby was born - and asked me to consider giving to all the children I come across. My daughter went through 3 of these in her first year - it was the book she most loved to look through (scribble on, tear pictures out of) and asked to have read to her. Today she's a creative, fearless adult, working at a large nonprofit in Rockefeller Center plus her own entrepreneurial projects - and while there are many factors, I would say this book helped set her trajectory. So yes, I give this book to as many families as I can, especially to those with newborns but I also give to all ages. I just ordered another two, after giving away a third. How can you beat Maya Angelou and Jean-Michel Basquiat as a creative team?

Comforting

I've had this book in the past. This copy was missing the jacket. Disappointed.
