jinhao 9019 Fountain Pen, Dadao
I have been using this pen for a few weeks now, and I am very impressed with it. The pen is a stunning piece of craftsmanship, with a clear acrylic barrel that showcases the piston filling mechanism and the ink color. The pen has a golden clip and trim that contrast nicely with the transparent body. The pen is quite large and hefty, but it feels well-balanced and comfortable in the hand. The pen has a smooth and fine nib that writes with a consistent and wet line which is surprising for an EF nib. The nib is not flexible, ,so no line variation. The pen has a large ink capacity as the cartridge converter is big.Overall, I think this is a beautiful and unique pen that writes very well and has a high ink capacity. It is a great pen for fountain pen enthusiasts who like piston fillers, demonstrators, or large pens. It is one of my favourite pens in my collection

Great value for money
I already own the Jinhao X159, which was a compelling pen for the price. This 9019 is even better. I like that it is slightly chunkier than the X159.The main feature which I was surprised by was the massive cartridge converter. I've never seen a converter that big, so this is very appreciated. The converter also screws into the pen, which means it is less likely to fall out and leak.I ordered two of these, one in F and the other EF. I have not tried the EF yet, but the F was VERY smooth, there were no hard starts and the ink flow was good. The Jinhao nibs seem to be getting really good these days. My first Jinhao pen from almost a decade ago had a very mushy nib with bad flow. This nib was miles better. Pretty much perfect nib for me.I found that there are two main downsides to this pen;(i) Firstly, the clip is so tight, it is literally unusable. I feel like if I try and bend the clip even a little, it will crack the due to the high torque.(ii) Secondly, the pen had some small scuffs / scratches on it when it arrived. I would expect a brand new pen to be pristine without any scuffs, but this was not the case. I have ordered two pens, one in Red and the other demonstrator blue version and both had some scuffs. One of them was slightly worse than the other.Another very minor point to mention is that the barrel has plastic threads whereas the inner section threads are metal. This might mean that the plastic threads of the barrel might wear out over time if overtightened. However, there is a rubber washer which means there is no need to overtighten. And I don't open the barrel up apart from when I am refilling the pen, so I am hoping this wont be a problem. On the plus side, the threads on the outer section and inner cap are both plastic, so they wont wear each other out.Despite these flaws, I still think this pen represents fantastic value for money given the perfect nib, larger ink capacity and size. It's definitely worth the 10 quid.

A large fountain pen with a wide barrel and grip, unbeatable value for money
The Jinhao 9019 fountain pen is outstandingly wide barrelled, and you will either love or hate this design choice. For me, I absolutely love the fatness of the barrel and grip, it really stands out in width in comparison with many other pens, and I find it so comfortable to hold and write with, allowing broad large script strokes as well as the smaller writing styles. I have two 9019s with EF nibs and it has to be said they are scratchy on the paper I have tried (100gsm), although they give a regular very fine line, with constant ink flow in my versions. I also have a 9019 with an F nib and it writes much more smoothly that the EF, however the line width is also significantly wider than the EF, so I am torn between the EF and F in the 9019 models. My writing preference is for a finer line and smaller hand writing styles, so I would naturally prefer the EF nib, but the smoothness of the F nib is nicer to write with. For the price of these pens I think it is a no brainer to get one or two to try them out, particularly if you like wide barrelled large pens. This model resembles one of the Montblanc pens used when people sign important documents on tv, which will undoubtably provide far greater quality, however it also costs around 100 times more than the Jinhao 9019. Will the Mont Blanc provide 100 times better writing experience, personally I don't think so. I love the feeling of handwriting with a fountain pen using nice inks on good quality paper, it makes writing a real pleasure and encourages me to do more. I will still look around for other pens to try, particularly ones that offer good value for money. I find that if you do a lot of internet research there are a number of fairly low cost pens that provide good quality and an enjoyable writing experience, which for me is the most important thing.Addendum: Be aware that the Jinhao 9019 pens may take a while to start writing correctly, I initially thought two of mine were broken and was thinking of returning them. However I persevered, and soaked the nibs in water for a bit, and then started scribbling on a page for quite a while. Eventually both pens started writing with a good ink deposit and I breathed a sigh of relief!

Prompt delivery; Outstanding value for money and very comfortable in use.
Very easy to heap praise on this fountain pen, the 9019 is manufactured to high standards and it is clear that JinHao have paid careful attention to the quality of the fountain pens design which I am convinced will become the brands most celebrated classic. As an older and arthritic scribe, I find the girthy grip section and the beautiful proportions of the sublime No8 nib a real pleasure to use. The custom cartridge converter is a marvellous innovation holding a whopping 2.1ml of ink, granting much longer use between refills.Post Script; I have used this pen now for over a month and still marvel at the quality and reliability in use. the Jinhao 9019 compares better than other much pricier manufacturers offerings. After being left for 2 weeks the pen wrote perfectly at first contact with the paper, no hard starts no burping, indeed I am so impressed by the performance that I will be buying others in different body colours as soon as they are available.

Danke Jinhao

Biiiig but very pleasant!
A very large pen but with excellent quality - gone are the days cheaper pens would have terrible finishes or scratchy plastic. This feels like it's a 100 USD pen. It writes well, if a bit scratchy as the extra fine, but that's a matter of taste, cf the feeling of Sailor and Pilot nibs.Feels good in the hand, writes well, looks nice. A solid purchase.
