My laptop's only real missing feature was having no fingerprint reader, something that was addressed in later models.With more and more applications supporting finger print access having it missing as a laptop feature was becoming more regretful almost to the extent that it justified me buying a new laptop, when there was not too much wrong with what I have.Delivery was prompt, it was very easy to configure, just plug it in, let it install and then configure it through the windows security settings.Seems to recognise my finger print reliably.On the downside it means that that is another USB port that is tied up, and for some laptops the position of the available USBs may not be ideal, the location of my laptop's USB is fortunately okay but where I have it positioned there is only one natural finger selection, and a more awkward backup finger, none of these negatives are the fault of the item, more the fault of the laptop not having a in-built reader.On my Windows 10 machine it doesn't always recognise the finger print reader device on start-up, I have to unplug and plug the USB in for it to be activated. There may be a fix for this but I suspect not, (I have checked that the power is not being turned off) for me it is an annoyance but once I am logged in is when I use the fingerprint access the most.It seemed a tad expensive, if it were a third of the price the decision to buy would have been a no-brainer as it was it was a marginal purchase decision.

I have an HP all-in-one pc (usb ports to the rear) In order to use this product I fished a usb extension cord (approx 15/20 years old) out of the garden shed! connected everything up, device recognised almost instantly. It invited me to take samples of my finger, then another one. First day or two it was a bit hit and miss but then the algorithm got used to my finger and it works very well indeed. value for money product with quick prime delivery!

I had no idea such a usb stick was possible, but I've long missed having a fingerprint reader on my laptop, and didn't want to buy a new laptop just to gain the functionality back. When I saw this I had to have it, and the price is extremely reasonable.It looks good, the silver blends in with my grey design laptop. The fingerprint reading works very well. I use it with Windows 8.1 I didn't have to install any special drivers, it indeed auto-installed. The device reads the fignerprint most of the time without issue, there are times it doesn't but I find cleaning my finger solves this. Also as the device is so small you have to make sure you use the same part of the fingerprint. if i have the lower part of my fingerprint on the device it wont read it correctly. That begin said I've not had issues logging in without wiping my fingertip.Biggest annoyance is the flashing blue light that it keeps emitting all night when I'm trying to sleep. It is so strong that it projects onto the bedroom ceiling so I keep having to unplug the damn fingerprint reader at night. it seems to be some sort of flashing during the lockscreen to show that it's the right time to login, but even with the laptop lid closed and the device in hibernate it still flashes. This isn't always the case, and I think the trick is to close the lid and avoid anything touching against the reader as you put the laptop down, but it's been 2 days since I bought this and both nights it's kept us awake and I've had to unplug the key. If only there was a way to turn off the led. I'll either end up returning it or sticking some duct tape on it, which will make it look hideous but at least we 'll be able to sleep.

A slim fingerprint biometric security reader which works with Windows 10 Hello security feature providing password-less login via a scan of your fingerprint. It is important to note that this device prefers a USB 2.0 socket as it struggled to work with my 3.0 sockets. However, once plugged into a USB 2.0 socket it worked straight away and I was able to register my fingerprints within the Settings / Control Panel / Windows Hello configuration tool.I have my power settings set to switch off my monitor and lock my screen after 15 minutes of no activity, and this device makes reactivating my session seamless. I just touch my registered finger against the reader and the screen turns back on and I'm already logged back in. Fantastic!

Speeds up logging into your computer and increases security at the same time. It is almost instantaneous when you put you finger on the reader so saves hassle of typing a password when you log in. Also very small out of the way. All this for a fair price.

I found this item easy to install and it appeared to operate well within the confines of what it is designed to do i.e. accurately read your fingerprint and open your PC in lieu of needing to type in a Microsoft Password.However, this will NOT act as a barrier to your PC in the event that it is stolen. Simply removing the dongle from the USB port and then rebooting will completely remove any legacy of the dongle from an access perspective - the PC simply asks for the Microsoft Password and logs you in accordingly. If you close the PC down, reinsert the dongle and reboot then behold the fingerprint log in option is restored.This dongle therefore adds convenience at log in (fingerprint rather than password) but does nothing to add security.Amazon returns process worked well - thanks. I'll save the £20 for something more useful.

My old laptop had a fingerprint reader built in. I missed that feature on my new one. Bought this and so far no problems. Easy to install, just connected it to a USB port, it installed automatically. Registered my fingerprint in Windows Hello, and that's it!No significant problems so far, very happy.

Fingerabdruckleser einstecken und mit der Einrichtung von Windows Hello fortfahren.Es müssen unter Windows 10 keine Treiber installiert werden. Dies war noch beim Vorgänger so der Fall und war auch etwas lästig.Meine Fingerabdrücke konnte ich mit Windows Hello und dem Fingerabdruckscanner problemlos erfassen. Dafür habe ich jeweils den Zeigefinger und den Daumen erfasst. Es lassen sich aber pro Konto zehn Fingerabdrücke erfassen.Sobald dies eingerichtet ist, kann man sich nun zusätzlich mit dem Fingerabdruckscanner an das Windows-System anmelden.Bei ca. 20 Anmeldungen gab es bei mir eine Fehlerkennung meines Fingerabdruckes.Software:Für das Anmelden an Windows 10 Systemen wird keine zusätzliche Software benötigt.Möchte man aber Dateien verschlüsseln bzw. das Anmelden auf Webseiten über einen Fingerabdruck haben, muss man hierfür die Software "Smart ID" von Benss-Webseite herunterladen und installieren.Während der Installation war ich etwas irritiert, dass sich Google Chrome und Firefox sich öffneten und die URLs zu den Smart-ID-Erweiterungen aufgerufen wurden. Diese Erweiterungen müssen nur dann installiert werden, wenn man sich mit seinem Fingerabdruck sich an Webseiten anmelden möchte.Die Software ist leider auf Englisch. Das stellte für mich allerdings kein Problem dar.Features von der Software: Password Manager, Security Zone und das Verschlüsseln von Dateien.Anmeldungen Webseiten:Die Authentifizierung an Webseiten mit dem Fingerabdruck passiert nicht wirklich über einen Fingerabdruck. Durch die Browsererweiterungen können Anmeldungen erfasst werden. Nach einer erfolgreichen Anmeldung erscheint ein kleiner Popup, indem man bestätigen kann, ob das Passwort gespeichert werden soll.Hierzu muss man sagen, dass dies nicht bei allen Webseiten funktioniert. Dennoch konnten die Erweiterungen einige Anmeldungen meiner beliebten Webseiten erfassen.Die gespeicherten Logindaten können über die Software im Password Manager verwaltet werden.Sobald die Login-Daten erfasst sind, kann der Fingerabdruck genutzt werden. Beim Aufruf des Anmeldeformulars öffnet sich ein neues Fenster mit der Aufforderung den Finger aufzulegen. Wurde der Fingerabdruck erfolgreich erkannt, wird das gespeicherte Passwort freigeschalten.Mit dem Fingerabdruck ist die Anmeldung komfortabler. Die Sicherheit hängt aber immer noch von der Komplexität des Passworts ab.Ver- und Entschlüsseln von Dateien:Das Ver- und Entschlüsseln von Dateien basiert auf einen asymmetrischen Verschlüsselungsverfahren. Bei der Installation der Software wird ein Schlüsselpaar generiert. Einen privaten und einen öffentlichen Schlüssel. Verschlüsselt wird mit dem öffentlichen Schlüssel und Entschlüsselt wird mit dem privaten Schlüssel. Der private Schlüssel sollte umgehend auf ein oder besser noch auf mehrere externe Speichermedien gesichert werden. Dies kann über die Software durchgeführt werden.Mit einem Rechtsklick auf einen Ordner bzw. auf eine Datei öffnet sich das Kontextmenü. In diesem Menü gibt es hierzu entsprechende Einträge.Der Hersteller empfiehlt keine Media-Dateien verschlüsseln. Abhängig der Größe kann das Ver- und Entschlüsseln entsprechend lange dauern.My Security Zone:In der Software können Security Zones angelegt werden. Eine Zone stellt einen Ordner dar, welche zyklisch die darin befindlichen Dateien und Ordner automatisch verschlüsselt. Mit einem einfachen Doppelklick kann man diese entsperren und bearbeiten.Fazit:Für den Preis von knapp 20 € bekommt man einen hochwertigen Fingerabdruckscanner mit einigen nützlichen Features. Heute sollte man auf komplexe Passwörter setzen, selbst auch bei einem heimischen PC. Die Anmeldung über den Fingerabdruckscanner ist sehr schnell und macht die Anmeldung sehr komfortabel. Zudem bin ich überrascht wie gut dieses Gerät meine Fingerabdrücke erfassen kann. Andere nichtregistrierte Familienmitglieder(-finger :) ) konnten sich an meinen System nicht anmelden.

E' il primo lettore di impronte digitali che provo, ne ho visti molti su Amazon ma poi la mia scelta e' ricaduta su questo modello sia per le recensioni che soprattutto per il design in quanto pensavo che fosse quello che meglio si adattava alla mia Logitech G413 per il colore , la forma arrotondata e per il materiale che sembrava metallo. Infatti e' di alluminio e ha un certo peso e resistenza e si adatta bene con il rivestimento della tastiera in alluminio anch'esso . Il funzionamento e' spettacolare, non sbaglia un colpo...ma davvero, l'accesso avviene in meno di 1 secondo e la password e' solo un ricordo ormai ( scritto se no me la dimentico ) . Il dispositivo, una volta inserito nella presa USB si e' installato da solo, senza il bisogno di un mio intervento e Windows Hello e' stato configurato in meno di 2 minuti, veramente molto semplice e alla portata di tutti. Un altra cosa a mio avviso importante e' che su questo dispositivo c'e' un marchio, che rimanda a un sito internet del produttore, qualcuno ci ha messo la faccia e indica in maniera a mio avviso abbastanza precisa caratteristiche elettriche, manuale di uso e driver per il corretto funzionamento in caso servisse. Sono molto soddisfatto del mio acquisto, mi piace molto ed e' di una utilita' che prima di provarlo non avrei mai immaginato. Lo consiglio a tutti .
