Johnson Level & Tool 40-6335 Contractor Aluminum Tripod with 5/8" - 11 Thread, 4'-5' Working Height, Silver/Orange, 1 Tripod

I am not certain how Amazon can sell these at such low price, yet they do. Johnson Level & Tool are not cheap manufacturer, and they make good quality equipment. Bottom line - this tripod is very decent, well made, sturdy and strong. This is not your wimpy level tripod from some YouKnowWhere place, so disregard low price. Great bargain and I got freebie ship to sweeten the deal here. Recommended, there is no doubt.

Sturdy tripod and grade rod is easy to read with a good finish which should last. After finding a Johnson rotating laser for a great price someone had purchased and never used( or even taken out of the box) we purchased this so we could use it. I find it odd these items don't come with the set which if purchased new is over $700. Since we paid a thrifty $50 for our complete laser level set adding this to make it compete was an easy decision. This set is for personnel use, not professional. It is nice for use on our mountain property where we are constantly improving roads, water lines and general slope changes for runoff and drainage.

I am not a professional, but I used this kit w. other Johnson Level brand products (laser sensors, rotary laser level and misc. other accessories) in/outdoors w. no problems. Smart design, commercial grade, not flimsy and not too heavy.

Awesome. Used it for the first time this past weekend. The three independent legs allowed setup on some very uneven ground. Nice features. The leg extension clamps are quick and easy to use even with gloves on. The built in carrying strap was awesome. This company puts some serious thought into their products.

Solid and sturdy tripod

I recently purchased this Johnson lightweight aluminum tripod in hopes that it would be minimally sufficient as a surveying tripod. I don't put it in that category after having received it. It would be fine for setting a laser level on, but the legs are thin and spindly compared to other lightweight aluminum tripods that I have. Also, the face is not standard sized, so there's not much wiggle room for centering over the point if you need to. See my picture. That said, it would be great for a laser level mount or a backsight that is more stable than a range pole/bipod.
