Forest Master Log Splitter. Wish we had invested years ago!
After much deliberation we decided on a log splitter ( having always worried about the safety of a chainsaw) Over the years we have turned away free fuel because the logs were too big. We have put our backs out on numerous occasions using a log splitter axe, we have wasted days chopping wood. Now we are at a point that we can't physically manage the backlash so it was a case of pay for pre chopped wood ( £250 a bag) lose the logburner or splash out £315 and be self sufficient. This sturdy, compact log splitter is a total game changer! We have it on a work bench. It is heavy but it needs to be and it has a handle and 2 wheels to move into position. It splits large logs with ease and speed. Easy to set up, easy and effcient to use. It's worth every penny. We are allocating our winter fuel allowance to pay for it. When we have logs that fit the fire, we don't need the gas central heating on and now we can accept free large logs that previously we couldn't. It is a fantastic and efficient piece of equipment. Wish we had known about it years ago. I obviously read lots of excellent reviews before purchasing and am happy to report they were all well deserved. Trust me, you will be like a kid a Christmas after you hit that switch and watch the ease in which it splits the largest of logs!

Absolutely Brilliant
I bought the FM50 because using the axe exacerbated my tennis elbow and was so impressed with the reviews. It arrived on Saturday 28 Feb. Today I used it for the first time, a little reticent to start with because the details read - best used on green, unseasoned logs. My Hornbeam logs were delivered last August and have been seasoning in the open air since then. Hornbeam is a very dense hardwood, harder than Oak. This log splitter cut through these logs with ease. Increadible, I am so impressed. It's easy to use, very, very compact, not noisy and very powerful. A solid piece of kit and very heavy! I only have a small shed but the splitter will stand vertically, saving space. My only disappointment is I wished I had bought it years ago! The splitter does include a guard requiring installation. My neighbour asked if he could try splitting some old eucalyptus logs which the axe wouldn’t split. The logs split with ease. I would recommend this to anyone who uses log, even if you buy kiln dry logs because some are very wide, too big for the log burner.

Very easy to use and a great timesaver
I've had a lot of trees down over the last couple of years in the storms. They've been cut up by chainsaw but not split. I've done some with a splitting mawl but it is seriously tiring work. I'm not in the first flush of youth. The splitter arrived in two packages. The main device and the safety screens. Before use, do read the instructions as there is a little air valve that needs to be open for use, and closed for transport. I've made the decision to not use the safety guards - my risk - but it does come with them. So far I've split about 1 tonne of logs without any issues. The Jaws dont meet so any logs that are less than about 10cm long you can't split but if they are that small it's almost pointless. By not using the safety guard I can split logs that are about 45-50 cm diameter but only 30 cm long. Ive not got any bigger than that to try with at this point. Overall I've split all the dried logs I have in 2 afternoons - at the rate I was going it would have taken me months. The next will be to split all the green wet wood - which I've tried some and caused no issues. The only hazard I've found is some of the wood splits almost explosively so sees the two halves shooting out along the line of the ram . I use it sat on a stump with my knees out the way. Id say if you don't get in the way of the direction of travel of the ram you should be ok. I might try the safety shields but am happy with the risk of not using it at the moment. Very impressed with it and it's made things so much easier. The dual handed operation isn't an issue in my mind as the button turns the motor on and the lever arm moves the ram forwards - just make sure you lay the log on properly. You might say it's noisy but I'm not of a mind to use ear defenders as it's not THAT loud.

A very solid machine, I’m blown away by it.
Well well, I did not expect that… After well over twenty years in the woodland and timber trade and having used pretty much every form of log splitter from my trusty Fiskars axe (the best axe by far in my opinion) to three point linkage systems on the back of tractors for a multitude of wood burners for not just home (we have two) but for the five we have at work, I’m blown away by just how sturdy and strong this little splitter is. I’ve used small ones from various companies and they can often take an age to make a full turn meaning your waiting and waiting for the piston to return, not this little thing, 9 seconds is it. I didn’t get a stand for mine for price reasons but after using it for a while it became obvious that’s it’s much safer to do so as you can stand behind it and reach the two levers easily and any logs that “ping” off will be thrown away from you. I now use our garden table but any work bench etc would work. Now for the weight, I went for the smallest one for our home and it weighs a ton! It has wheel but they are no good on our gravel so it takes two of us to move it easily but a healthy strong person will manage on their own. It is VERY robust, no cheap crappy bendy metal on this and we have decided to use it without all the cage it comes with so we can get much wider logs on it and it goes through nearly everything we have easily. It’s much shorter then I thought, hence the quick reload speed so some of our logs will need sawing before splitting but our two burners are not huge so that’s not a problem for us. I’ll put some images of the timber it has got through and if you want my professional advice, this is an absolute unit of a log splitter for a domestic scenario, the bigger ones must be amazing. Five stars everyday, don’t bother looking at other ones. And yes, it has gone through nearly all those rounds of wood!

Glad I bought it!
We have two wood burners and a lot of trees in the garden. This is way better than my old way of using a sledgehammer and big steel splitting spike! My hands can't take the impact anymore but this machine is just pushing a button. Works well with soft wood, hard wood can be trickier as with some old tough wood the piston stops moving. I also have to be mindful not to cut any wood into rings that are too "tall" as they won't fit on the deck when you turn them on their side!

Splits for days
I have been manually cutting down my log delivery to more appropriate sizes for a few years, but I'm not able to stand to do it and I have hurt myself on more than one occasion so a log splitter is my saviour. I chose the forest master for its reviews and I have not been disappointed, it splits both soft and hardwood, they recommend the next size up for the hardwood, but I have had no issues and I'm happy to recommend. Mine came with a full stand and safety cage, but I don't need that so I have not set them up. Overall this has made my life so much easier, definitely my sore muscles are very relieved.

Brilliant. Wish I'd got this before.
Arrived next day - a day early. One of the best buys I ever made. We're self-sufficient in wood for the burner, and I was faced with a huge pile of logs, a heavy axe, a bad back, a shoulder sprain, and a heart full of dread. Kept putting off the logging until I suddenly thought of this gizmo, and for the price of two weekends hire, or 2 trips to the supermarket, I'm halfway through the pile in a couple of short sessions. What a relief. Using it on the ground is back-breaking, so I put it on my Workmate. The safety guard system is a pain, and I see that few people bother with it. My advice is: (1) always stand at the pusher end because logs that suddenly crack like a howitzer usually fire themselves past the wedge (ash particularly likes doing that); (2) use a safety helmet with a visor - I've not been hit yet, but I expect to before long. For the same reason, having to use 2 hands to start it makes sense, as you don't want a hand anywhere near the splitting wood. Most burners want wood no longer than 30cm (1 ft), so little point paying more for the 37cm model as you'll probably have to cut the wood down anyway, unless you have a big furnace. It is heavy, so you probably won't want to lug it around every time you use it. Oddly, the split wood seems rougher than when it's axed, but that's probably an advantage as it doesn't stack as tightly, so it should dry more quickly and catch fire more readily. And do read the instructions: the air valve should be kept open unless you're transporting it.

Excellent product. Assembly of the safety cage is a bit tedious, but it’s a great product.

Manual ayuda poco

In entrambi i casi lavoro eseguito molto bene. Prima di comperarlo ho letto molto bene le recensioni dei clienti che l'hanno acquistato prima di me,e devo dire che rispecchia quanto scritto. Soddisfatto
