2010 five CD set from the legendary conductor. The Complete Collection is a 100 track all encompassing anthology from the Mantovani and his orchestras boasting some of the finest musicians in Britain. Universal. 2010. Review: Awesome Compilation - The Complete Collection is an awesome set. I have listen to it over and over again. Mantovani is one of my favorite conductor and arranger for easy listening orchestra music. He was a master at his craft and cannot be duplicated. Mainly what I have liked about his arrangements is the strings section with that famous icy translucent sound. I have found it is hard to find good quality digital versions of Mantovani. I have, like others, have purchased budget compilations over the years and have been very disappointed with the sound quality. I also started collecting the originals in vinyl format on the Decca / London labels. Yes, it is hard to find them in good condition because many were played on those record changers with the heavy tonearms and were not treated with the best of care. I wish the complete Decca catalogue could be released in the digital format, but I guess there is not enough people that would buy it. This compilation is very good for those getting introduced to Mantovani, but if you really want to hear his work at its best, get the original pressings on the Decca or London labels, you can’t go wrong. Don’t settle for budget versions on off brand labels. If it doesn’t say Decca or London on the label, it is probably not taken from the original recordings and it will either be bootleg or an inferior copy. Review: Beautiful Music with Fond Memories - I recently purchased "Mantovani - The Complete Collection. When I was in college, back in the middle ages, I had one Mantovani record. This was a few years before stereo. I played that record just about every evening while doing homework. (I was a commuter student at Northwestern University). It got to the point that I could hum the beginning of the next track in the right key before it started! I had the privilege of attending one of his concerts at the Civic Opera House in Chicago. That must have been 1960 plus or minus a year. Needless to say I became a fan! The recordings are excellent quality. They are far better done than a couple of Mantovani CDs that I bought a few years back which seemingly were recorded at live concerts, last notes cut off annoyingly probably to eliminate applause from the audience. From quiet and gentle to bombastic, classical to popular this is great music. I'll never tire of listening to it! Most of the "elder" crowd will like these very much. I even found a young fellow who said he liked them too. Very listenable music. The arrangements really take advantage of stereo. Many feature solo instruments far left or right with the orchestra in the middle. Solos by muted trumpets, muted trombones, harp, piano accordion, oboe and even french horn are varied and interesting. Buy this one if you like "easy listening" music. R. Anderson Hendersonville NC

Great music Great conductor
When I was young, while others were listening to Elvis, America's Top 40 and Chuck Barry, I was hooked on big orchestra music. I love the sounds of the horns, violins, clarinets and drums, all things that you expect from the big orchestras. Mantovani was among the best and these remastered recordings do not disappoint. This is the kind of music I can put on to read a book, work around the house or just plain sit and listen to. I highly recommend this to anyone who like orchestra music played the way it should be.

A Very Good Mantovani Sampler With 100 Tunes
Nice quality CD set, with an excellent booklet. However doesn't include many early Mantovani Cascading String arrangements. All the biggest Cascading String hits are there, such as Charmaine and Laura. I think it's a good cross-section of Mantovani's work, from early to later period. But there plenty of show tunes and exploding crescendo pieces as well. I can recommend it as a very good introduction to Mantovani, and the sonic quality is excellent.

Like watching some classic movies and humming through the scores.
For the younger generation, this is a real experience of what true orchestral genius is all about. For those of us old enough to remember these classic melodies, it is a rich and exhilarating trip through many movie scores and famous standard tunes that have been enriched by Mantovani's excellent compositions and arrangements. The 5 disc collection is a real bargain and definitely worth having in my library of songs. Brilliant! I listen to them over and over.

Wonderful!
This set has 100 songs on 5 CD's. The arrangements are beautiful! These symphony orchestra renditions are great for background music, nice quiet music over dinner or at bedtime, or just winding down and relaxing. I especially liked the inside cover which has a short bio of Mantovani's life. I highly recommend this CD set if you want a great compilation of the lovely music of yesteryear. The price is unbelievable!

WHAT A TREASURE!
This is probably the finest music in the "popular" realm ever recorded and released to the public. I was a radio announcer during the era of FM "Beautiful Music" radio, and Mantovani was a mainstay of our programming at that time. I venture to say there will never be another one like him. Two or three generations of Americans have come on the scene and raised families of their own since those days long ago who have never heard such music as this. That's so sad! I treasure this beautiful, huge collection of sublime music, and I heartily recommend it. Thanks so much for making it available!

I've yet to listen to this CD. It arrived with other items in clean undamaged condition, brand new. So rated 5/5 at this stage of receipt. Looking forward to listening. This pack will fill the gaps in my Mantovani CDs.
