Utterly brilliant. Just a shame there isn't a lot more of it. I've just watched this whole set over the period where the UK voted in Boris Johnson (Dec' 2019), a period in which the UK media went beyond black comedy into farce. In the light of these recent events Brass Eye looks more like a prescient bit of documentary soothsaying: 'We tell you what to think... next' Indeed! The celebrities making asses of themselves are perhaps my least favourite bits, as indeed are most such segments in most TV media. The best stuff is the spoofing of the content and delivery of news itself, which is done incredibly well. Essential viewing, more so now than ever. Buy it, watch it, have a good laugh. And then reflect on where we and our news media are now. Superb satire, with a sting that long outlasts viewing.

Where are you Chris Morris?
Head stalker of the Chris Morris fan club is probably going to send me packing with a flea in my ear, when I suggest that there were rumours of Mr Morris narrowly escaping jail some 6 years ago, after being exposed as an imposter //investigative journo in a New South Wales monastic order, that had been on the radar for some years for it's unhealthy interest in under age boys. with 3rd hand tales of how "Chris" (to his friends only) is now happily married to Ruth , the daughter of Vietnamese boat people, living in Sydney with their twins, Kelly and Shelley now (both) aged 4, selling waterside real estate to anyone stupid enough to buy the prices he is asking....However, I doubt it.I do hope Chris Morris will raise his troublesome head above the parapet again in his contribution to exposing liars, hypocrites and cheats everywhere. The world is a less safe place without him. Haven't seen Brasseye since it was on C4. Doubt it has aged in any way at all.

Christopher Bapswent-Tasseltine-Baxendale-Thomas... Morris
Ludicrous, hilarious, meticulous. Need I say more? I'm going to.What you're getting here is a DVD of fine television ranging from pranks on politicians to cock-ups on camera. This series (and special) is certainly not for those who are easily offended, however. There is plenty of well-crafted satire and genius comedy reserved for those who can appreciate it all. With the same sort of idea as The Day Today, and absolutely not the same sort of idea as Jam, you'll be treated to some of the finest lines in British television's long history, as well as genius acronyms, character names and other observational comedy you won't find anywhere other than in Chris Morris's creations. The Paedophile Special is completely over the line. Which is why it is worth your time to watch it over and over again. Also included in this DVD are some extras such as "Me Oh Myra" extended, and the full simulated audio experience under the influence of Cake.

Chris Morris at his best
Chris Morris had already made 'On the Hour' for radio and 'The Day Today' for television before he produced 'Brass Eye' for Channel 4 in 1997. 'The Day Today' had seemed like the ultimate spoof current affairs magazine when it was shown in 1994, but 'Brass Eye' was even more inspired. This series of spoof documentaries tackles a series of contemporary issues such as crime, drugs and child abuse. Given the sensitive nature of some of the topics covered, it was hardly surprising that the series came in for a lot of criticism, but it is consistently very funny, and at the same time it manages to make a lot of valid points about the way television news reporters operate.

People say alcohol's a drug. It's not a drug, it's a drink!
He's a true original, Morris. No doubt about it. This contains the six episodes (animals, drugs(!), science, sex, crime and decline, along with the special from 2001.The humour is a mixture of absurd, satire, ridicule and spoof...amongst other things. Getting the gullible celebrities involved in the pretend campaigns was the masterstroke for me........so many.....bless 'em. Bernard Manning as well, I bet Morris enjoyed that one. Genius.

Work of Genius
Brass Eye is the work of genius. Any show that can convince ostensibly seasoned celebrities into making the most ridiculous of soundbitess deserves a gong. Top marks too for whoever was present when a certain female presenter agreed to solemnly pronounce that some computer games leaves players with the "listless appetite of a 60 year old Colonel"But Brass Eye wasn't just an expose of publicity-hungry rent-a-quotes. There were also absurd and shockingly funny sketches masquerading as genuine media reports. There are few shows that can match the calibre of Brass Eye.
