Q: Can the transmitter be installed outside on brick? I see pictures of it installed on vinyl siding, but will the adhesive stick to brick?

Buy Gorilla double sided mounting tape, just put it right over the other tape. I sticks better than anything else i could find. You can also take it off easily.Will not pull paint off. I bought it at Lowes.

No. If it's space you're concerned about the part that holds the bell is only about the size of a deck of cards. Even if you had two it wouldn't take up much room and you can part the bell anywhere. You could even set a different tone/bell for the button on the inside and then another choice for the button on the outside of your home.

Q: How often does the 12V battery in the transmitter need to be replaced?

I have had mine a year now and have not yet replaced the battery.

Q: Is there anyway to get just the inner mechanism/switch that transmits the sound? We just don't want to have to buy the entire item again.

Also, please make sure to replace the small battery in the transmitter AND the AA batteries in the receiver or ringer. Even when the receiver is still working by itself, low batteries make the signal reception unreliable. 99% of time when the transmitter is not working reliably, it is due to low batteries. The average time to replace batteries is about one year.
