This is a brilliant tool. It's great value for money and I bought this as a Christmas present for a family member.

I'm really impressed with this. I tested the stuff finder on walls where I knew the locations of studs and it was able to find them. I tested the electric mode where we've recently had electrical work done. The electrical wire detection is a little sensitive but it does recommend recalibrating near the start of the signal if it is too sensitive and that certainly helps.I think in an old Victorian building it is affected a little by moisture in the walls but so long as you are aware of the factors that might impact it, it is good enough.The manual is really good and full of useful tips, you definitely need to read it.I'm really happy with the purchase for simple DIY.

Cheap plastic construction, screen was blank though backlight worked. Completely unusable. Certainly wouldn't trust this device to identify live wiring if the manufacturer can't even wire the display screen properly... Utterly useless and returned same day. My advice, pay more for something reliable that might actually protect you from electrical shock. This won't.

First, the "calibrate" button is right where you hold the device so you'll be moving it in an awkward angle and accidently be calibrating it with realising. On the accuracy, I was using it to find where the electric cable goes in my office there are two double plugs and the cable goes down to one, then across to the other. Unfortunately I have been having difficulty calibrating it as I cant simple adjust the sensitivity. I know for a fact that the power cable is within a 30 cm range. From first tests the standard cable looks like the cable could be 50cm either side of where I know it should be so I cant trust the electric mode. Its like it thinks most of the wall is electrified.On a positive note, the stud finding seems to work and helps show you the edges and middle of a stud. Shame I dont have any studded walls, I just tested it on a floor board.

Although this is called a stud wall finder I wanted it more for avoiding drilling into hidden cables or pipes. Tested it out putting up a rack of coat hooks and it picked up cable positions well so I was able to avoid any issues.I tried on different walls and it found a stud wall that I knew was there from recent development work.Would recommend.

Took a little while to get to grips with this, but think that was more me ,recently used to locate ceiling joists for the fitting of floor to celing wardrobes and was accurate also picks up electrical wiring very well

This electronic sensor has a light weight to it, which is great. It isn't massive, so it fits perfectly in the hand and it seems compact, easy to use and understand.I bought this sensor to detect electric wires in the wall and so far it seems accurate. But I like the fact that it has multiple scanning modes, so it can also be used to detect other things, such as studs and pipes, behind different surfaces, such as walls, ceilings and floors.A useful item to have in the home for long term use!
