Thick and beefy!
You can never have too much chain when you are working off-grid on a homestead, or working a farm or anything like that, especially big thic 1/2" chain! There are a million and 1 uses from pulling fence, to pulling up stumps to towing a car or tractor, and when you do you want to use the thick stuff, and thats what this is. Seems reasonable and its good quality. This is the perfect sized little inverter for keeping in your glovebox for 'emergencies.' It's very small and compact and will do just great to charge up my laptop, or charge up other items I sometimes have that only have an AC charger (my cordless drills or cordless vacuum for example). We live off grid and sometimes we just do not have any 'extra juice' to spare in our house batteries after a period of bad weather or simply over using other appliances, and so I keep this in the glovebox and can do certain things by simply starting up my car and running a little inverter for a bit.How My Star Rating System Works & What They Mean:1 STAR - Pretty much junk and I would return and ask for a refund if I could.2 STAR - It works, but barely meets the minimum requirements it should in order to keep it and not return it, but I would not order again.3 STAR - It does what it was designed to do, but there's nothing really special about it. It's acceptable but not great.4 STAR - I am very comfortable recommending it to a friend because it is is well made, durable, and delivers on its advertised features, and I would buy it again.5 STAR - I really love it. The item exceeds my expectations of quality, durability and functionality. Not only would I purchase it again, but I would also actively encourage friends and family to do the same. All of my reviews are my own personal opinion and are completely honest no matter if I receive an item for free or I pay for it. I am an avid Amazon shopper, as well as an Amazon Vine Voice and I personally rely on reading reviews to make all of my buying decisions, so I understand the importance of honest reviews from my peers.

G70 NOT G80
I searched the chains of G70 and G80 on the Internet and found that they are indeed very different. The seller needs to change the label and update the instructions on Amazon to avoid misleading buyers.Grade 70 chain is manufactured in heat-treated carbon steel. Also known as "trucker's chain," people use grade 70 as tie-downs on over-the-road trailers. Never use this chain for overhead lifting. This type generally features a gold chromate finish so it’s easy to recognize. It also meets California Highway Patrol and DOT requirements. The uses for this chain, apart from transportation, include towing, logging, oil rigs, and safety applications.Grade 80 chain is a heat-treated steel chain with a high strength to weight ratio. Its strength makes it safe for overhead lifting and lifting slings. It’s also excellent for uses such as recovery, safety, and towing chains. This chain is also becoming more common in the flatbed trucking industry to secure heavy-duty industrial loads. Because these types of chains are generally equipped with a specific type of clevis grab hook, chain assemblies are not approved for overhead lifting.

Good chain, no gripes
If this is the chain you need, this is a good chain to get.I wanted this chain to secure loads to my tractor bucket without a lot of excess chain. I have a 20’ chain which works well for many occasions but sometimes it is too long. This grade 80 is overkill for me so I expect it to last a long time with no stretching. When deciding on chain, figure your working load requirements and the type of points you have to secure it. The 5/16’ chain is common and a good all around size for me, but everyone does different stuff so it may not be a good all around size for you. Larger chain is 3/8” and that is pretty heavy and used for securing heavy equipment to trailers, as an example.Chain also comes in different grades. This cain is advertised as G80, but the hook is a G70. See the pic. Normally the working load is based on the weakest link. I don’t know how the grade of the hook is figured into the overall calculation. For my use, it doesn’t matter. If you are hauling and need to ensure your safety and DOT compliance, the make sure you understand the rules. This chain is nicely finished in gold chromate and is clean. I would look for this chain in other grades or sizes as my needs dictate. Good stuff.

Perfect for work around the yard with my tractor
Giving this chain four instead of five stars for this reason - it's messy! I should have wiped it down first or soaked it in a solvent, but I didn't want it to rust either. I assumed the manufacturer wanted it there for a reason, not just for storing and shipping. Maybe I'm wrong and I could clean it up and it won't rust, however, I prefer the gold-colored chains. With that said, it has some good things going for it.- Much less expensive than the gold-finished chains- Rated up to 4,900 lbs is more than enough for my use of dragging logs, pulling out shrubs, and other landscaping needs- I like the Clevis hook that locks anywhere on the chain- The chain welds are good and should not fail- 10' size is the perfect length for securing an item and then attaching it to a larger pull chainThe chain is going to come in handy for me and if you are not concerned about the finish of the chain and wear gloves most of the time, the mess won't be an issue for you. Just keep that in mind when you order.
