Saved a Tabletop I Thought Was Permanently Stained
I used this two part wood bleaching treatment on an old wooden tabletop with a dark water mark that ordinary sanding would not remove. Sanding alone started to lighten the surrounding wood while leaving the centre of the stain visible, so I needed something that treated the discolouration rather than simply removing more material. I followed the instructions closely, wore gloves, and worked in a well ventilated area. The effect was gradual, but after the treatment had dried the dark patch was dramatically lighter and much closer to the surrounding timber. I gave the area a light sanding afterwards before applying a new finish. The two liquids need to be applied carefully and in the correct order. I tested a hidden section first because the final colour depends on the type and condition of the wood. The containers are not large, but I only needed a small amount for the affected area. This product rescued a piece of furniture I was close to replacing. I would use it again for genuine staining or uneven dark patches where normal sanding is not enough.

Works well, bleached dark red mahogany ready to take a light brown colour stain. doesn't smell much, 2 stars knocked off due to 1 of the bottles had leaked a bit

Wow! I did not expect that!!
There’s mixed reviews with this product, but all I can saw is WOW. I had a dark wood standard lamp I was refurbishing to go in my living room. It had layers and layers of horrible lacquer on it, some of which had peels, some which had stained. So, I used a paint stripper on that and reveals this red coloured wood. I wanted it lighter so scouring the internet came across this A and B wood bleaching kit. I didn’t expect anywhere near the results I got. It’s gone so light, I’m considering getting a light wood colour to stain it back down again to the colour I want! The results were incredible and there’s no damage to the wood that I can see. I hardly used any of the two products so I’ve got a lot left for other projects in the future. There’s no smell, but I did work on it outside and then stored the lamp in the shed rather than the house to dry over night. I used white vinegar to neutralise the bleach, which is advised if you want to put a wax finish in, which I do. Well worth the time and effort for the results I got. Very happy. Oh… and wear rubber gloves! Bleach is really not on the list of recommended skin care products!

Very effective bleaching agent
As you can see the product was really useful to achieve a paler finish . The unit was dark oak, and had been dipped, but residual dark areas prevailed. The wood bleach finished off the wood really well. Easy to use, and good instructions.

Not recommended
I’m extremely disappointed with this product. It arrived leaking, even though the original box was sealed — the paper packaging was visibly wet. I disposed of the first one as advised and requested a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement arrived leaking again. Before disposing of the second one, I decided to test it — and it simply doesn’t work. I ordered this through Amazon because I had run out of the same type of product from another company that I usually purchase from. The difference is like day and night. With the product from the other company, I can see it working instantly upon application. This one, however, doesn’t do even half of what it’s supposed to do. Between the leakage issues and the lack of effectiveness, this has been a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend it.

Wood bleach that works!
Really pleased with this Rustins product. I had a 1930 fire surround in stained oak and after stripping the laquer using Nitromors, I used two to three applications of the Rustins Wood Bleach and followed the instructions. The results were impressive! I really recommend this especially for intricate pieces. Also worth noting for the many reviews on Amazon that report leaking bottles, the packaging says "vented cap, keep upright " so it's not really a product that should be sent via courier. Mine was OK.

No
I personally wouldn't recommend this product. I (had) a walnut window sill but wanted it a little lighter , sounds crazy I realise . Anyway , I followed what it said on the tin and the damn stuff bleached it nearly white ha, ha,ha , it also made the wood swell and it certainly wasn't an even colour , having said that it was wood so it's a natural product i guess . I tried sanding it but it looked awful so I bought a new sill in the end . What a palaver *rolls eyes*
