Looks nice, silent, easy to install, and works well...
Overall I really like this heater. it is expensive compared to alternatives but it is nice to have it mounted on the wall and out of the way. It is pretty much silent with no fans or blowing noises. It heats well enough. We use it at night in the bedroom instead of heating the whole house and only need to turn it up to about the middle to keep it warm enough. It does have a but of an oder to it the first time you use it. I would recommend turning it on full for a few hours with the windows open and do it again once it has cooled off to get rid of the smell. Pros: - Compact and out of the way. - Looks nice. - Heats well for what it is. - Easy to install. - Simple controls. - Can be hooked up to a smart plug for auto on/off. Cons: - A bit expensive compared to traditional heaters. - Smells a bit the first couple of uses.

Perfect supplemental heat!
Silent, slow and steady heat. They are cool to touch which still amazes me! Wall mount was pretty easy but donโt get in a hurry. Youโll need a grounded plug for these, but thatโs an easy change to make. We installed 1 Envimax in our liv room, 1 Envi in din room and 1 on sunporch. We have 1 Envi in each upstairs bedroom. We live in a home built in 1914 in the Midwest and this is supplemental heat to our forced air furnace which we keep low at night and kicks on a few times a day instead of running all the time. Keeps our home much more comfortable, the utility bill is lower, and the cost of the units is pretty easy to justify. Our walls are plaster with a satin finish paint and we have not had any discoloration problems. This will be our second winter season using Envi and we have not found any other type of heater we would have purchased instead.

does not put out continuous heat / switches itself off about 50% of the time
the thermostat knob and circuit board area might not be insulated properly. thermostat knob must be heating up and you hear it make a click, and heater stops putting out heat. Then it will be off for a couple minutes, and you will hear it click again and it will heat back up. This was confirmed with a outlet watt meter. you are basically getting an average of 500 watts, taking twice as long to get your space heated.

Double check your hole template!
Installation: 1 STAR It did not take 2 mins as stated. More like an hour and a half of hair pulling because the included hole template was off by a few quarters of an inch. It was late in the night and I didn't want to run back downstairs to get my measuring tools, so I kept drilling holes a little to the side and hope for the best (btw, no DRILL required?!, do they expect you to punch a hole with a pen?). After 2 more holes, I finally got it to hang. But it still wouldn't turn on, because the questionable safety switch on the back wouldn't engage, so another hair pulling moment thinking I got a dud with 4 holes in the wall now. I ended up sticking my finger in where the safety switch is and manually engage it while it is plugged in. So much for safety... It did turn on and I was somewhat relieved that so far I don't have to start a return. I hung it again and it still wouldn't turn on. In a fit of frustration, I banged it (hard) down on the side of the unit where the switch is and I heard it clicked. It finally turned on. Yay! As for my claim of the safety switch being questionable, its function is in case the unit ever falls off the wall, the switch will disengage and cut power to the unit. But the way I see it, if the unit does ever fall off the wall, it will most likely take the little plastic wall clip (used to engage the switch) with it, still lodged inside and engaging the safety switch, keeping the unit continuing running while laying on the floor. Luckily, mine is wedged in there super tight now. If it's coming off, it's going to have to take the whole wall with it! Function/Style: 4.5 STARS There are a lot of bad reviews because of people receiving dud units. But I have a feeling most of those issues are due to the safety switch not engaging correctly after installation rather than an actual dud unit. After the installation woes, I do find it works rather quite well. As long as you have the proper expectations. IT WILL NOT REPLACE YOUR MAIN HEATING SYSTEM!!! It does supplement it quite nicely. For my situation, I have a room at the NE corner of an old house (with probably little or no insulation), that my forced hot air can't heat up adequately without toasting the other rooms and wasting an enormous amount of gas. I strategically installed the unit on an inside wall where it can do its convection magic most efficiently. But in reality, it was the only convenient location with an outlet. Obviously, do not install in a convenient location that is under a window or on an outside wall. Leaving it on with the thermostat a little less than half way, it keeps my room at 70-71F (no change in my forced air's thermostat, remember it has to work together with your main heating system), which is what I want. Previously, without it, the room would go down to the mid lower 60's while the furnace is still running. At this setting I can hear it cycle on/off with a click (which is the only sound that comes out of this thing) every now and again, so I know it is not inefficiently continuously running. Previously, this room is the coldest in the house at night, but now it's about even, if not more at times, with the other rooms. This unit replaced my oil filled radiator on wheels, which also works great, until a toddler wants to touch it. The Envi Heater looks stylish and hidden at the same time and is somewhat safe to touch. It won't burn you instantly and causing you to jerk back your hand like a heated oil filled radiator, but you will feel it is warm and giving you ample time to slowly remove your hand away from the Envi. The Envi will burn you if you leave your hand at the top for more than ten seconds. Surely, ten seconds is enough for anyone's brain to process the situation and react in a calmly manner. Function and style is worth 5 stars! Then why do I only give it 4.5 stars? That god awful smell during the break in period is why. The instructions do say, it is best to run it on max for the first 24-48 hours or something to help it burn off whatever manufacturing byproduct left on the heating elements. My thought was, why couldn't they "pre-season" this before putting it in a box?! Why let the customer go through this questionably toxic olfactory sensation? In its defense, I only had to run it on max for about 2-3 hours before shutting it off and calling it a night of hair pulling installations. The smell persisted over night and into the next day, but was gone by the end of the day when I turned it back on. The only thing I wish they add would be another indicator light for when the heating element is on or not. There is one for whether the whole unit is on or not, but not for when the actual heat is on or not. It would've been useful in helping me determine the optimal setting to turn the thermostat knob, for instance, if I feel comfortable and I see it coming on, I would turn it a nudge so it will turn off or I feel it is getting cold and it is still not turning on, i would turn it until it comes on. This process will eventually pinpoint the exact position the knob needs to be for my preference. Also, I had the Envi plugged into a Kasa Smart Outlet, so I can use my existing setup to turn on/off the unit remotely. Saves me some money in not buying the "Smart" version and adding yet another single use app to my devices. My whole house is already "Kasa'fied", so it was a no-brainer. If you go this route, make sure the smart outlet can handle the required 8.x amps of the Envi. In conclusion, it does what I want it to do and I hope it lasts. It is not cheap, and you can probably get a cheaper "Built in Not-In-The-USA" one. I hope my initial extra investment will last a while and won't lead me to another investment to replace the initial one.

Great alternative and upgrade to the original Envi Wall Heater
We have a finished basement that runs 5-10 degrees cooler than the main and upper floors in our home. We considered various space heaters and also tested some hydronic baseboard heaters at first. All the various space heaters were noisy and loud, and the hydronic units made odd cracking and popping sounds when in use and also took up a lot of space. We decided to purchase the original Envi units and have been very happy with them. They're easy to install, absolutely quiet, help keep small areas warm and take up very little space. However our basement bedroom required more coverage so we thought about installing two Envi units there. Instead we saw the new Max unit and purchased it instead. To our pleasant surprise, the mounting points and size are exactly the same. I removed the original Envi unit and put the Max on in the exact same place. Voila! The Max has been more than enough and at 1000 watts, it doesn't have the same demands as the 1500 watt alternatives that are noisier and much bigger. I'd definitely recommend the Envi and the EnviMax units.

Good for extra heat but not front line heating
Good for a corner of a room or in a drafty area but not good enough for your main heat unless you live in a coat closet. I have the smaller one by my bed and the larger by a drafty front door. Each help in a pinpoint manner. One by the bed enables me to turn down heat at night plus theyโre silent using the hot air rises principle. Front door one just injects some heat into a place with cold drafts already in place. Which is kind of ideal for this type of heater. The draft sucks the hot air out/through the thing since there is no fan in it.

Best room heater ever
You would not expect this thing to work at all based on how quiet it is. It does take at least 30 minutes to feel a difference. I'm in a townhouse and the downstairs is just so chilly. When I have this running, it completely takes away all the chill. So much better than just a little space heater that blasts hot, dry air or anything that could topple over. Just don't put it in a drafty location because it works slowly, but efficiently.

2 years later still loving it!
We have an older home, and the living room has always felt cold. After new windows and reducing the size of some of them, as in this photo, it still felt cold when being still. So we tried the EnviMax heater. It has solved the problem! The warmth it generates is comforting, not just comfortable. We've been using it for the past two months during the Fall months when moderate temperatures affect the effectiveness of the furnace. We turn it on in the evening and within a few minutes the room is comfortable. We do use ceiling fans to assist. We expect it to be just as effective in the winter months. As you can see, the dogs have their bed beside the heater and there is no issue with the unit getting hot or causing the dogs to be uncomfortable. Installation was a bit of a challenge due to the age of the house and height of the woodwork, but overall quite easy. Our electrical outlets are to the left of the unit while the unit cord comes out the right side. The cord is long and we could tuck some of it back into the unit. And while you cannot see it in this photo, a chair hides most of that from site. I"m not even sure it would be that noticeable anyway. The unit itself is very understated. We are VERY pleased!
