because the internet is the third studio album from American actor, writer, comedian and hip hop recording artist Donald Glover, AKA Childish Gambino. Review: My favourite record in my collection - The vinyl copy is expensive because of what you get with it. Not only is the cover art some of the most beautiful i've ever seen on a record, the sleeve houses both the album AND Glover's 72 page screenplay to go with it! The booklet is a brilliant read and the accompanying music of the album, when played alongside as directed, perfectly captures the emotion of the story. It might seem like overkill if you're not a massive fan of his music but if you are, buying a record player just to listen to this album would be worth it. My only negative is that the two discs are very difficult to tell apart and the sides are not marked, so it can be hard to listen to the music in the right order without some trial and error. Nevertheless, the vinyl is of excellent quality, with no scratches or pops, and the album sounds great no matter what order you play it in. roscoe's wetsuit Review: Gambino's best album, on vinyl - This is the album that got me into Childish Gambino and despite the fact he's had some other great releases, it remains my personal favourite. Very little filler on here, if any. The record is a nice pressing. The only pain is trying to figure out which side of which record you're looking at since there is nothing indicating it on the labels, but you can look at the etching.

Amazon messed up, not Gambino
The record itself is amazing. However, Amazon doesn't inform you, that they don't actually send you the album. They send you a plain jewel case with a boring folder. This isn't the Childish Gambino album, just the CD. Buy it from elsewhere if you want the album. The real album cover is a lot cooler, with a lot more features inside.

Fresh creative beats, tight rhymes. Some weirdness..
There is a lot of variety and creativity in these tracks. Something which you don't always find with rap and r&b artists. Some of the beats and samples are the most interesting and exciting I have heard for some time. When he sings his voice is excellent and the raps he pulls are rapid and tight. In packing so much variety into the album, which some would say gives something for everyone, I left feeling that I didn't get enough of any one thing. Personally I would have liked more rap in the tracks, but others would be crying out for more of his smooth vocals r&b style. In summary the album reaches some very exciting, brave and fresh peaks, but some of it borders on just random noise rather than creative flair. I did enjoy the album though as a score I'd give 70%. Try it if you want to hear something fresh, but be prepared to like some tracks a whole lot more than others.

Great album, great concept!
Awesome album. Brilliant quality vinyl and it's incredible to have this album in that format after it's limited release originally. Having followed Childish Gambino from his early days (Sick Boi, Poindexter, etc.) this seems like the culmination of someone who has put in work and created another story (like Camp), this comes with the screenplay to read whilst you listen for a fully immersed experience.

This album is stunning. Childish Gambino is a true lyrical and musical genius. Rather than the "smoke weed, f**k b****es" stories that most rappers talk about these days, which he mocks/mimics in his song Sweatpants, Gambino tells true stories of love and life through deep and insightful lyrics. The musical style is something never seen before. It is a combination of noise tracks (anywhere from moaning to dental drills) and unheard of beats and tunes. The combination of these things create an amazing album that insets a certain indescribable emotion. The album ends with a desperate, but not shouting, voice pleading "please help me", which sends shivers down your spine. The song Flight of the Navigator provides an interesting perspective of life, with tunes that go along with the lyrics and just add more and more layers to the already deep meaning of the song. Sweatpants mocks rappers who brag about things they don't have. Shadows provides a perspective on falling in true love with someone. All of this and more is waiting for you inside Childish Gambino's musical masterpiece, "Because the Internet". If you buy this album, especially the vinyl LP, please don't blast it at a party. The is not that kind of rap. When you get this album, just hit play or drop the needle, relax, and listen to it all and analyze it.
