Jane Austen: The Complete Works: Classics Hardcover Boxed Set (Penguin Clothbound Classics)

I received the hardcover boxed set today. The box is covered in cloth, as are the books. I had read previous reviews that explained that there were sticky labels that marked the books when they were removed. However, I was delighted as when I received my books there was a sticky label on the plastic covering but there were no stickers on the books or the hardcover box so it seems likely that someone has taken note of the reviews. The books are beautiful and if you are a fan of Jane Austen then I would highly recommend them.

Thought it was a misprint but apparently thats how she wrote it!

I started collecting Penguin Clothbound Classic books recently and have absolutely no regrets. Fantastic books with absolutely no complaints. I really enjoy the fact that you can get certain authors in collections and I hope Penguin never stop making these books. My only slight gripe is that usually these books come with a ribbon bookmark but my copy of Pride & Prejudice in this did not. I don't know if that's the way it's supposed to be or not but would've been ideal if they all came with these bookmarks. Still a fantastic purchase overall.

Unexpectedly this shipped from Germany (despite not saying so on the listing) via Amazon Prime, so took a few days to arrive. Otherwise great item. Lovely books. Oh, one of them had inky fingerprints on the side of the text block, but that’s a manufacturing error (not Amazon) as they were plastic sealed when I got them. The cover binding on these is absolutely lovely. Anyone would love these on their bookshelf. Well worth it.

This is a great way to buy the novel's of Austin, can work out to be so much more affordable than acquiring them separately, I particularly like the fact that they are protected in the case, which is cloth covered like the books. I was very pleased to receive them still shrink wrapped which made it all the more special to know that no one had viewed these copies before me. Annoyingly though there is a sticky barcode on the back of every book in this set which when peeled off does take some of the design with it as well as leaving a darker patch, where the label has been. This I wish the publishers would address hence the four stars.

Saw these being made on Inside the Factory and was blown away ! I decided there and then that I had to have a set The quality of these books is excellent and at half price they were an absolute bargain 🤩

I'm not reviewing Jane's wrok. The shipment was ok and the general look of books too. There weren't any stickers on te back and books are well made except those tree. The P and P hurts me the most, that dent on pages and also this ridge but i was expecting something worst based on opinions. If u're not scared to spend some money on books and on the covers then spend it but dont be surprised with a few damages. I've seen a lot of reviews about descening print. Nothing is coming of yet but we will see. However i have to admit the covers are rly pretty and the pages too. The font is perfect. I would say that the inside is compensates the damages on the outside.

Las hojas son de las amarillas, gruesas, no se transparentan, con el tiempo van a oler a libro antiguo :) Cada novela tiene introducción, cronología y notas al final. Ahora estoy leyendo Love and Friendship, (por eso no aparece en la foto) y tiene una muy buena introducción con Notas Sobre el Texto que explican las peculiaridades de JA en este libro. El texto es lo más parecido a los manuscritos, conservando las manías de JA al escribir, y explicando palabras o situaciones que toman más sentido dentro del contexto de la época. Llegó en excelentes condiciones. Las portadas son lindas. Como leí que se podían dañar, cubro el libro que estoy leyendo con una hoja albanene. Es cierto que trae las etiquetas con el precio, no recomiendo quitarlas, así que si es un regalo hay que tenerlo en cuenta. Es un gran valor por el dinero. Es una excelente edición, en su idioma original, con una bella presentación. Una buena inversión si se es fan de JA, se ve que van a durar mucho tiempo.

Elle sait parfaitement saisir les subtilités des relations humaines et les enjeux sociaux de son époque. Redécouvrir ses œuvres dans un format aussi élégant est un vrai plaisir. Ce coffret est idéal pour ceux qui aiment la littérature classique ou pour ceux qui souhaitent découvrir son univers, idéal aussi pour un cadeau avec les fêtes de fin d’année qui approchent !
