SAMSUNG 77-Inch Class OLED 4K S90C Series Quantum HDR, Dolby Atmos Object Tracking Sound Lite, Ultra Thin, Q-Symphony 3.0, Gaming Hub, Smart TV with Alexa Built-in (QN77S90C, 2023 Model)

At the time of writing this, this tv provides the most bang for your buck among the higher end tvs. The picture quality is phenomenal, side by side with the s95c the picture looks identical (some feature differences but not enough to justify the large price difference). The sound is pretty good for TV speakers on it as well but still can't compare to a high end sound system. A nice added bonus is if you have a compatible q series Samsung sound bar system then this tv will augment that system and provide more speakers to the center channel (only draw back is that this feature will not work for external devices that are plugged into the sound bar itself while connected over E-arc. Dolby vision is missing which is a point against it but hdr10+ on this looks just as good as this TV gets super bright while running hdr content. Something to be aware of is that there is no dts passthrough support so if you have a plex library or a physical media library you'll need to work around this limitation by having a dts supported streaming device such as an Nvidia shield or Blu-ray player plugged into a sound bar that does support dts and pass the video signal back via E-arc to the TV, the built in plex app on the TV down samples to stereo sound so I would not recommend it. If you use Samsung's smartthings this seamlessly integrates with that environment and can even act as a new smartthings hub. The ability to calibrate the TV with a smart app is a nice touch and does make a significant difference on color accuracy. Overall even with the couple drawbacks I mentioned above I highly recommend this tv as it is a stunning display.

This TV improved dramatically with a recent operating system update. I bought my 65-inch S90C on June 16, 2025, and from day one the display impressed me. For a long time, it had a cluttered user interface and sluggish apps that did not match the quality of the panel. Everything changed on November 23, 2025, when the TV notified me to install an operating system update. I did so immediately, and the difference was striking. The home screen now looks far better. The menus are more intuitive and have a clean, translucent design. Sluggist apps became fast and responsive. The TV detected an improved lineup of antenna stations. I cannot emphasize enough that this update has made owning this TV a completely different experience, and very much for the better. The sound quality varies depending on what I am watching, so I expect to add external speakers eventually. For now, I use headphones when needed. Also, I use the display in Movie mode. Dynamic mode is too bright for my tastes, even for NFL games. Based solely on my present experience, this is a five-star TV. If the display suddenly fails (as other reviewers warn is possible) or if Samsung fails to maintain the remarkably improved operating system, I will return to this review and adjust the rating accordingly. My TV's full model number is QN65S90CDFXZA, and the current OS version is 2203.

The Samsung TV was ordered on a Friday afternoon, delivered Sunday morning. Box was un-damaged, in 5 ⭐️ shape. Had to first remove the 8 year old Sony TV before installing the new Samsung. It is a 2 person job, but only because of the size of the TV, 65”, not the weight, bulky to manage with only one. The Samsung was sitting on the same cabinet as the old Sony, no wall installation. The platform legs the Samsung TV sits on are easily installed, and sturdy. The new tv rested on a table covered with a blanket. It’s best to connect the cables while still on the table, for the HDMI and soundbar. When the tv is upright it is a little more difficult to see the ports. Easily flipped the tv onto the cabinet. Hardware setup complete. Power up the tv, about 20 minutes to configure the software for the tv, as well as the existing Sony soundbar, which works great. Oh, the picture … we have DirectV, absolutely amazing picture. This is the older model Samsung S90C, the S90D was actually on sale briefly for the same price. Compared the ratings for both between the S90C and the S90D, and the S90C somehow performed significantly better, especially for Sports. The S90D did better for gaming, faster processor, but that’s not now how this tv will be used, it’s mainly for movies and sports. Picked the S90C for just that reason. Buying the kids the same for Christmas. Fortunately did not have to contact Samsung support, which is getting poor grades for those that unfortunately need that service. Hoping luck holds out.

Great picture, but panel died literally right after warranty expired. Which means same price to buy a new TV. I love Samsung TVs, but I won’t be replacing this with a Samsung. Samsung won’t care, but between two homes we have 11 Samsung TVs so they are losing a great customer who influences the decisions of a number of family and friends.

The Samsung S90C 65-inch is a high-end OLED TV with a lot to offer, especially for gamers. Here's a breakdown of the pros and cons to help you decide if this TV is the right fit for you. Pros: Superb picture quality: This TV boasts stunning picture quality with OLED technology, which delivers perfect blacks, wide viewing angles, and excellent color accuracy. It also gets very bright, making it ideal for HDR content. Excellent gaming features: With a 120Hz refresh rate in consoles, or 4K 144hz native for PCs with a 2.1HDMI GPU, low input lag, and features like G-Sync and FreeSync compatibility, the S90C is a great choice for gamers. Sleek design: The TV has a very thin profile and a minimalist stand that makes it look great in any room. Cons: No Dolby Vision: Unlike some competitor TVs, the S90C doesn't support Dolby Vision, which is a HDR format. Does have HDR10+ (not to be confused with HDR10), but it is a less popular HDR format. Sound quality could be better: While the sound quality is decent, it doesn't quite match the picture quality. You might consider pairing the TV with a soundbar for an improved audio experience, and sammy does make the current king of soundbars with the Samsung HW-Q990C. Tizen smart TV platform can be clunky: The Tizen platform can be a little slow and cumbersome to navigate compared to some other smart TV platforms. I do however have an android tv box connected to it, so it doesn't bother me since I will rarely use it, a cool thing to mention, is that the 4K upscalers works great even through my Android TV box, while streaming from my NAS, all my 1080p movies definitely look 4K, it does artifact every once in a blue moon during the movie, but it is not enough to bother me, and having it look 4K with HDR definitely outweighs the minor ocasional hiccup. Overall, the Samsung S90C 65-inch is a great TV for gamers and movie lovers who want a superb picture quality. It offers excellent value for a QD-OLED TV, but keep in mind that it lacks Dolby Vision support if that's something you care about (I'm fine with HDR10 on those that don't have HDR10+). Here are some things to consider before you buy: Price: The S90C costs around $1,500, which is less expensive than some other QD-OLED TVs on the market. However, it's still a significant investment. Features: Decide if the features you need most are a high refresh rate for gaming, excellent picture quality, or a user-friendly smart TV platform. Content: If you watch a lot of Dolby Vision content, you might want to consider a different TV that supports this format. I hope this helps!

As a videophile. Buying a Television set is a very hard decision. After Plasma sets were discontinued due to energy consumption I thought the color and motion handling was lost forever. In 2016 I made a purchase of the last 3D capable OLED set, the LG 55" C6. The C6 had inky blacks but the color always left something more to be desired. It also had HDMI 2.0 ports which was limited to non-HDR 4K 60hz gaming which was less than ideal in today's high frame rate environment. Enter Quantum Dot OLED. I wanted a set that would dazzle the senses. That meant no compromise image quality and capabilities. I own a gaming PC with a 4090 and a PS5. I wanted to hook up both and enjoy high refresh rate gaming with minimal lag. I wanted to be able to watch any movie in SDR or HDR and be able to pick out every detail in the shadows and experience every shade of 1 Billion colors. This is the TV that does it all. Not only does it do 4K 144hz when connected to my 4090 via a Zeskit HDMI 2.1 certified cable. It also does ALLM and 120hz when connected to the PS5. That is the power of the SoC that is running the display and mainboard. You are getting 48 gbps on all four of the HDMI ports. That means you can easily connect a PC, PS5 and an Apple TV 4K and be able to run lossless audio back to your soundbar or home theater with zero compromise. All of the HDMI-CEC is here. Seamlessly adjust the volume of your soundbar or select "Play Movie" within your PS5 without having to touch the controller. And once you're done, pressing the power button on the Samsung remote turns off all of the connected devices. Many have said that other OLED sets without quantum dot technology do the exact same thing at a lower cost. This to me is the minimum entry price into high end OLED tech in 2023. There is no other set that will provide you with this high of a picture quality. When gaming at 144hz the screen is fluid and smooth. There is minimal tearing when VFR is enabled. On the PS5 Gran Turismo 7 looks stunning. Everything from the audience in the grandstands to the pebbles on the edges of the track are tack sharp and clearly visible. Colors can either drip off the screen in Standard mode or they can be accurate and impactful in Filmmaker mode or in Original PQ Game Mode. Dune 2021 4K UHD is the best disc I have for testing out a set. This S90C passed with flying colors. There was no purple tint to any of the many shades of grey. For a couple of hundred dollars more you can be bleeding edge with the Sony A95L or the Samsung S95C but for all intents and purposes, the S90C is perfect.

Hi! See my in progress review below: === Delivery (5/5) === The delivery guys Amazon hired were fantastic - I'm sure it varies by region but this was ATL. They were super friendly and helpful. === Unboxing & Install (5/5) === I was really impressed by the unboxing - it was extremely well thought out. I was doing it with my gf (who is tiny), and was initially worried that it might be a big lift. Samsung build the packaging so you remove the packaging from the tv, not the tv from the packaging. The styrofoam blocks kept the tv steady and upright while you can install the legs/wallmount and finally move it to its final resting place once assembled. Really really easy and again, well thought out. === Build Quality (5/5) [WIP] === So far so good. Everything feels really sturdy, well thought out, and physically well designed. They are good about the small details. No issues so far but I'll update after 1-2 months. === Picture Quality (4/5) [WIP] === So far I'm happy. The blacks are really black and the colors are vivid. Unlike many who worry about an OLED in a brighter room, I actually found this TV to be more than bright enough during the day, despite being in a room with lots of sun. However, I found the Picture Settings to be extremely lacking. I think even a software update may have removed some because guides I reference seem no longer accurate. I find the colors oversaturated and off, with an inability to fix through settings (but I will update this as I experiment.) === Software (3/5) [WIP] === I go back and forth between "that's a neat feature" to "omg why are these basics so bad....". The best way to describe my issue so far is that all the menus feel disjointed, both technically and from a UX perspective. It's clear that Menus are often built completely separately from their sub-menus. Pressing the settings button has a 3-4 second lag before pulling up the menu, and even scrolling from the main menu options to the bottom breadcrumbs (already displayed) takes 2-3 seconds and the screen refreshes. Submenus are designed differently than their parents (like going to Network Settings >> Bluetooth Settings are entirely different menus and takes 2-3 seconds to open then you have to reorient bc the screen totally changed, aaaaand the menu options are meager: from picture settings to network options etc it feels like I'm missing tons of settings that I've expected for a decade+. Anyway, I find the software pretty annoying already and it's only been a day. This would be a 5* TV if the software wasn't such a mess. If Samsung reads these comments, this should be one of their biggest areas of improvement. (It's fixable and applies to all TVs! There should be focus here.) === Gaming (5/5) === Tested on Xbox Series X - everything going well so far. Ran around in several games testing and the tv is responsive and no apparent input lag.

UPDATE 3 months in - PLEASE READ - If you get the black lines on your TV like in my last picture I have a solution for you. I saw a lot of reviews giving negative stars for this very thing. I called Samsung support, they had no solutions. I found in the solution that fixed my issue for me. It was the pixel refresh that cleared the vertical black lines away. 1. Press the Home button on the Smart Remote and navigate to Menu > Settings > All Settings. 2. Navigate to General & Privacy > Panel Care. 3. Select Pixel Refresh. 4. Select Start Now or Start After TV off. Now back to the review: The Samsung S90C in a seriously ultra-thin design that immediately catches the eye. Pretty much everyone who has come over and cant believe how thin it is, and how beautiful the image is. Picture Quality: Amazing, it handles day time viewing like a champ, I have a sunny living room and I have no issues seeing the image. Design: Again, how thin this thing is. Remote is amazing and simple. Smart Features: I use a firestick, BUT there is a built in Samsung TV service thats free that has a surprising amount of channels and actual content. There is local TV and random big network channels avaible to watch. You can also use your smart phone as a remote if you download the Samsung app, which is super super useful. Especially if you cant find your remote. Connectivity: Multiple HDMI and USB ports and also Digital Audio in which I couldn't get confirmation it had one until I purchased the TV. Audio: Can't speak to it, using a surround sound system. Motion Handling: Handles it well, I am oldschool and I actually turn off all the motion blending. Potential Considerations: Price: Expensive, but for the currently price, and after months of research, I don't think today you can can anything that is more B for the Buck then this TV Brightness in Well-Lit Rooms: In dark rooms amazing, but if you are getting direct sunlight it can get a bit washed out, but its in a sunny room currently and I don't have much of a issue. Gaming Performance: Haven't done any gaming on TV. Remote: The remote is powered by a solar panel in the back of the remote. You can also charge it by USB. So far i've had no connectivity issues with the remote, or power issues. Conclusion: The Samsung S90C is a solid OLED TV at a solid price. After months of research and youtube views I landed on this model, and so far I am still thrilled (4months later) with my purchase!

Excelente televisión para la sala, tiene colores muy nítidos y los Hertz hacen que la peliculas y programas se vean con una nitidez algo no alcanzable con su hermana QLED. De sonido tiene muy buen sonido, sin embargo yo recomiendo el colocar una barra de sonido ya que como es muy delgada la pantalla si se daña es difícil el repararla, que es la contra de este televisor, no son muy reparables ya que es super delgada y cualquier tema en la pantalla es mejor comprar otra. Son televisiones de mucho cuidado tanto en golpes como en su uso, le recomiendo no quitar el uso del protector de pantalla ya que si la pausan mucho tiempo se puede "quemar" o quedar la sombra de la imagen de manera permanente. No es muy para un cuarto de un niño. Si te sientas de lado ves muy bien la imagen.
