Q: I have a brand new battery/ can I simply apply this product without disconnecting any cables first?

Yes. Just coat the terminals and cable connectors as they sit on the battery post. I always use this stuff on all connections and seems to keep corrosion away.

Q: How long does an application last?

The liquid dries to a sort of tacky consistency and stays intact indefinitely. I have been using for years on multiple vehicles and RV battery banks, still on my first can. The protection seems to depend on what it went over. Clean, new battery still looks new, but when I applied over some corrosion, it slowed new corrosion, but it did not prevent it completely. So, short answer: lasts a very long time (years) when applied properly.

Q: How is this better than dielectric grease that I've been using for decades?

This dissolves and prevents corrosion. It improves the connection. Dielectric grease only protects, does nothing for corrosion. I also use this on truck and trailer light connections, which would corrode with just dielectric grease.

Q: How is this considered a cleaner?

Good question i used it primarily as a protectant and was very satisfied with it. Im guessing it has something in it that eats acid and or oxidation... and thus could be considered a cleaner
