Pentair 472734 Auto Heat Control Board for Pool Heat Pumps

We got this instead of having our pool guy install it. It was half the price and very easy to put on our pool heater ourselves. It works perfectly no issues with the function after we installed it.

I needed a control board for a customer and this one was the exact one that Pentair sells on their Ultratemp pool heaters.

My pool guy wanted $850 to replace the Pentair 472734 Control Board. I immediately went to Amazon and ordered the part with a 3 year extended warranty for around $320. It took me 15 minutes to replace it and it works great. Use your phone to take photos or get a helper to hold the old board as you move the connections one at a time. Make sure the power to your heater is off before you begin.

As long as you know how to remove the part it is replacing and you verified that it needs to be replaced, your good to go! Take pics of the wiring before you remove. The new part wasn't 100% identical, bit the connections matched. Beats paying 3x for a service tech to install. 20 min

Came with Pentair manual but manual does specifically describe how to replace this component. It’s easy enough for anyone with a little mechanical aptitude. I took photos of the existing wiring because it wasn’t possible to move a set of wires from one board to the other while holding new board in place. It would be easy to get confused as to the color-orientation. Go easy when removing the wire clips as each has a “tab” holding the clip down against board (which you don’t won’t to break)

This is a simple item to install, and it works perfectly. The only issue I had is that my unit heats and cools, but the cool function did not show up as an option when I installed it. We called Pentair and in less than a minute they told us how to activate the cooling function. You have to press the up and down arrows AND the pool/spa button at the same time. When you do that is gives you a menu to heat only or heat and cool. Simply change the setting and it does everything you need it to do.

I noticed the product was not new but handled before and now 56 days later the board is acting bad, no fan and no response for temperature adjustment so compressor runs all the time and freezes up the rad. Sent notice for return authorization and still waiting.
