These talking tins are easy to use. The idea is you can record onto each device anything you want, within the time limitations of each can which is 40 secs for the red ones and 20 secs for the yellow ones, and play them back. Each of the tins requires 3 LR44 batteries (initially supplied) and you need a small screwdriver to access the battery compartment to replace them. As far as using these for children, to practice speak sounds etc, they look very boring and our grandkids lost interest in them very quickly. There are other potential uses aside from teaching kids talking skills, for example partially sighted people could use them to indentify contents of cans etc (relies on someone recording the product name and placing tin on top of product). The talking tins have a cheap plastic look and fell about them, which I don't think would survive the normal rough treatment from children or being dropped. For me, these are overpriced at £64.95 for six plastic tins, which you will spend a fortune on batteries once the included ones have died.

These work as described and easily allow anyone to record short snippets of conversation. The recording process is exceptionally easy, as is playback. There must be many uses for people with particular needs but I have been trying them as a teaching aid and have found them, along with the teaching guide, to be useful and interesting. The playback quality is average, of course, given their size, but easily sufficient.
