THREE BITES - unheard of!!
I get bitten in every single place that I go to, UK or abroad.. The insects come out of hibernation (if they hibernate) and scope me out at all hours of the day, in every season, in every country. I always take daily anti-histamines before and during my trips abroad and through the summer in the UK and always end up needing a (holiday dampening) doctors visit as i always require stronger anti-allergy tablets and usually antibiotics due to the severity and number of bites and this is when using the silly 97% DEETs and long trousers etc - so I take prevention quite seriously!! I didn't want to use DEET on holiday in Cuba (it smells horrendous, feels like it burns my skin and apparently is quite bad for you) so I tried this in combination with the incognito spray, odourless garlic capsules, high dose vitamin B complex and loratadine (daily anti-histamine tablets) and received THREE bites in total - TOTALLY UNHEARD OF! I don't know how much was this stick and how much was my month prior tablet preparation but the stick smells lovely and lemony. It is strong but pleasant and doesn't make your eyes water like DEET, it glides on easily and gave me an additional layer of protection which you didn't have to wait to dry. You can't see traces of it on your skin or clothes and it isn't sticky. The ingredients all seem natural and there's plenty left after nightly use and reapplication on holiday. I will definitely keep it in my anti-bug repertoire as a ground level method of defence.

So much nicer than Deet and just as good
These are a great alternative to the toxic deet based sprays. Mosies love me and I get bitten when everyone else is left alone. So I am always looking for decent repellent. This is probably my repellent of choice now as it is so comfortable to wear, no greasy film or toxic worries. It doesn't melt plastic but does have a pretty strong smell of lemons and eucaliptos. It lasts all evening and it does work well at preventing bites. Like all repellents however you still get the odd bite probably where you missed a bit. My experience is no repellent works 100% if the mossies are hungry and this performed as well as deet spray in Thailand. Its other advantages are its a solid stick similar to deodorant ones so no spillages or breakages to worries about and can go in hand luggage. It also seems to last longer than the sprays as there is less wastage. One stick could last 2 weeks but I always take 2 just in case. I believe these were developed by MASTA who are tropical medicine experts so if its good enough for them its good enough for me.

it actually works
I'm a mosquito/Blandford fly/midge/gnat magnet. I've tried all kinds of repellents and this is the only one which seems to have a deterrent. So contrast: waiting for this and sitting on patio far from the pond, on legs/buttocks 27 bites [through thick tracksuit trousers at that], 12 on arms and shoulders. First time of use; 7 bites. I missed a few areas, I think... today, 4 bites. Quality. Having had European Malaria, I react badly to mosquitos, and as well as the pain/itching of bites, which swell up into huge lumps, I also often have a fever with many bites. How nice to feel normal!

Mosquito kryptonite
Hands down, the BEST mosquito repellent ever. I'm one of those unfortunates who have horrible reactions to mosquito bites (seriously, my husband started calling me Mr Krabs after a bite on my hand swelled so much it looked like a mutant crab claw). I've always had to put up with using hardcore, deet-based repellents which stink, are sticky, and melt off my nail varnish. Enter Mosi-Guard...nice scent, no stickiness, easy to apply and, most important of all, zero mosquito bites. I won't travel anywhere without it now.

THIS IS NOT SUITABLE FOR SOUTHERN EGYPT!
I love this product - it's fine for Northern Europe, and I thought it was the same as the one I'd previously (successfully) used in the Egyptian Delta, but Southern Egyptian mosquitoes and sandflies basically consider it to be seasoning. IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL THERE - and there are serious mosquito-born illnesses in that area. Do not try to use this there - go with a tropical strength one, even if that means something unpleasantly chemically. Other than that - I'll always use this in Northern Europe, it's perfectly good.

Brilliant
Just returned from Turkey where the critters seemed to be out in full force. I usually take a strong deet spray but needed something without deet for our toddler so bought this. He didn't get one bite. My husband got bitten to bits with another spray, switched him to this one and no more bites. So easy to use and brilliant for wriggly toddlers goes on so easy. No horrible fumes up your nose and not greasy. Really pleased.
