Super sharp and fast autofocus
I ordered this lens to shoot my CrossFit box’s Murp WOD and got it overnight to shoot with it straight out of the box with my a7RV. I rented the Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM a few weeks ago, but I couldn’t pull the trigger to purchase such an expensive lens as an amateur photographer despite how amazing it was to use. But, I needed a nifty fifty, so I took the plunge on the Sigma 50mm f/1.4. I am so happy I did! The image quality is fantastic, the autofocus is very snappy, and the build quality feels great. Sure, it may not be the bokeh monster of the f/1.2, but it still renders lovely, and my bank account appreciates the $1k+ savings. I haven’t used the Sony 50mm f/1.4, but it’s hard to imagine it performs much better than this lens. This lens is a bargain approaching a steal. I’m very happy with my Sigma purchase!

Spectacular Lens
I'll preface by saying I used to shoot the HSM version of this lens on the Nikon D850 and this is a great evolution of that lens now on the Sony system. The new focus motors are super snappy. Impressively fast actually. The files I'm looking at are super sharp. I'm even seeing much more controlled chromatic aberration than what the early reviews made me expect. CA is still there wide open, surely, but it's totally fine and correctable. I will note the barrel distortion is a little bit more pronounced than I expected, but Lightroom lens corrections take care of that easily. The lens is also bigger than I expected and not lightweight. If you're in the market for a good 1.4 and don't mind the size and weight, this is a great lens. If you're cautious about the size and weight, consider the new Sony 1.4gm

It is as good as they say it is
I already owned the sigma 35mm1.4 dg dn and sigma 85mm 1.4 dg dn. I love both of these lenses. Was not really sure if I "needed" the 50mm version. I was hesitant to spend more money if I could "zoom with my feet" to get the 50mm look with the 35mm. Let me tell you that zooming with your feet will not be the same thing. There is a difference in the images and compression. I would HIGHLY recommend buying this lens and completing what is called "the holy trinity". This lens produces gorgeous images and has the same awesome dreamy look of the other two 1.4 sigma lenses. Very happy and I highly recommend. I ordered it on amazon but shippped and sold by adorama. Adorama has always been a great seller and I had a smooth transaction.

My primary lens for most occasions
Love this lens. Simplified my bag and just carry this and a 20mm and have no regrets. One of my favorite images was captured close-up while walking towards someone who was walking towards me just a few steps away. No look, one handed, wide open, and it focused quickly and perfectly. I definitely trust it and the Sony body to get the image when it matters. Use it for portraits, group photos, and landscapes. Great all-around focal length and sharpness on A7RV

Great substitute for 50mm 1.2G master
Excelente. I use this or my 50GM 1.2Master. The G-Master is always an overall better lens, but this is a very good substitute. It does the same job, performs well in low light, autofocus is great even for video.

Worth the price
So crisp and fast but a little heavy.

I can't imagine a better product than this 50mm
I generally only buy G Master and Zeiss glass but saw the excellent reviews on this product. The performance is stellar and the lens is much lighter than the comparable Zeiss 50mm. The new G master 50mm also gets stellar reviews but is significantly more expensive. Super happy with this purchase. Focus is super fast and comparable to Sony glass for my use case. I'm a pro photographer and this Sigma art far exceeded my already high expectations. Body is the Sony A1. Highly recommended. Sigma art glass with the new technology focus motor should worry Sony.

Instant bliss.
I mistakenly bought this 50mm 1.4 ART lens from Sigma thinking of the 85mm instead but after a few shots I realized how magical this lens is! It makes everything look like a portrait with rich light & color that’s sharp as a razor. It’s a little on the heavy side but it’s worth the extra cost since everything else is just a lens, this is magic.

Incredible glass, great value
I'm absolutely in love with this lens, the bokeh is perfect and every image is super crisp and vibrant. I've used the g-master and actually prefer this lens over it. It's a bit heavy but personally I like the weight and feel. Incredible quality and a great value all around. If you've been thinking about a 50 1.4 this is it!

Erste Sahne!
