Automatic Air Vent 15mm

These are very well made, and good value for money .

I recently refurbished my mums old house for sale and as part of that process I changed all of the radiators which meant draining the entire central heating system. When I did so I noticed that the two auto vents in the loft were not working and one had signs of early leaking so a quick search and I bought these.Which I did because they are about 1/4 the price of the name brand ones in a well known supplier that sounds like a mens magazine publisher.... I wasn't expecting fantastic quality but worth a punt.Turns out I was pleasantly surprised. These are very well made from brass and the internal air venting float valve seems to be solidly made and certainly works very well. I filled and drained a couple of times the system and each time they vented off all the air and stopped instantly water filled them up with not even a droplet noted.The venting bit has a red screw cap to seal this off which I did. Yes, I know that the idea is that you leave it open for continuous venting but whilst the vent did work perfectly I'm a marine engineer and like most sea going engineers am obsessive about keeping water where is should be. Inside a pipe not leaking somewhere unpleasant. I figure every so often I can nip up and open the cap for a while to allow venting and then close it again. In the long run I'll fit a line to take any potential leakage out of the loft.Overall, I don't think I would have gained anything by buying a more expensive version in the local supplier. These are really good auto vents.
