Will this work on REGULAR & WIDE mouth canning mason jars (Ball & Kerr) ?

It fits wide-mouth jars.  I just now tried it in two different Ball brand regular-mouth jars.  On the pint jar, it did fit inside the mouth, but very snuggly.  But, on the quart jar, it would not go into the mouth of the jar at all (apparently different thickness of glass).   I haven't used the funnel since I bought it, but, for me, it will NOT be appropriate for regular-mouth jars because the too-close fit will make it difficult and sloppy to use.

What is 18/8 stainless steel mean?

Interesting topic and question.  The basic ingredient in steel cookware is iron.  You could take a cast iron pan, melt it down and add some chrome and nickle to the molten iron and end up with stainless steel.  18/8 stainless steel is made by adding 18% chrome and 8% nickle to molten iron in a foundry and rolling it into a sheet as it cools.  The addition of chrome adds to the beauty of a stainless steel product and the addition of nickle gives the utensil a resistance to acidic foods and rust.  An easy way to test a stainless steel item is to check it with a magnet.  18/8 stainless steel is non magnetic.  Lots of low priced kitchen utensils are made of 18/0 and they look beautiful because of the chrome content, but without the addition of nickle, they'll rust.  I bought one of these ladles last year and have used it for canning and serving things like soups and stews.  The polish is beautiful and hasn't dulled or tarnished.

Question 3

is this all one piece or is the bowl separate and then attached to the handle? welded, riveted, glued???

The bowl is spot welded.  Some of the earlier reviewers mentioned spot weld failure after they used the ladle.  When I received mine, I gently grasped the bowl with one hand & the handle with my other hand and gently applied twisting pressure to make sure my ladle's spot welds were properly done.  After a couple years of use the welds have held without problem.  It's a nice ladle for the price.

Question 4

Hi, how wide is the top of the funnel? Not the bottom/neck (which I believe is 2.75"), but the top/receptacle? Is it wider than 5.5"

The OD from outside edge to outside edge is approximately 6.5"  The ID at the top of the funnel is approximately 5".  Hope this helps!
