Kickboxer: Senescence
This is a direct-to-video reboot of the 1989 movie 'Kickboxer', and the sixth film in the Kickboxer franchise. Alain Moussi stars as Kurt Sloane, who's out to avenge the death of his brother, a world karate champion killed in an underground fight. Dave Bautista is suitably cast as Tong Po (the obligatory bad guy to beat in the finale), and Bautista's presence here is far more menacing than Michel Qissi in the original role (as a side note: Michel Qissi makes a small uncredited appearance in the film). Gina Carano is miscast as a fight promoter, we don't get to see her in any fight sequences, which is probably a wise move by the director, considering her physique and fighting skills as a former mixed martial artist and in her usual roles as an onscreen female action star. Teenagers of the 1980s and fans of the original movie will probably get a kick (pun intended) out of seeing Jean-Claude Van Damme once more in the Kickboxer franchise, but sadly, even though he's still in great shape, not even his trademark persona and skills can save this unnecessary reboot. The remaining supporting cast is as wooden as the leading actors, the fight scenes are poorly choreographed, the predictable storyline is wafer thin, and the dialogue throughout leaves a lot to be desired. Overall, it's a film for hardcore fans of the series or the actors involved, if you've got the time to spare, give it a go.

Kickboxer reboot
No spoilers. It's a reboot of the original Kickboxer movie. Many could ask why you would need to do this, and how it could surpass the original. If you love the original, watch this with an open mind. They did not remake it, they reimagined it for the reboot. It has brought the story into the current era and made significant changes to the plot. Van Damme plays a key role in this film, but doesn't reprise the title role. Instead he is actively passing the torch to a new generation, and potentially starting a new series of movies.Given the lack of asian actors and fighters, I'm not sure why they set it in Thailand. This could have easily been set anywhere in the world, and may have made a little more sense.I would happily give this 3.5 stars, but this may be influenced by nostalgia.

A good action movie.
As a king fu fan, I thoroughly enjoyed the story leading to the climax of a fight between the main protagonists.

Not enough JCVD.(But then I am biased.) Lol.
After 20mins I had a review formulated and intended to give this film a good drubbing. Mercifully, things rapidly improved. This is a very good film that could have been a LOT better. The fight scenes are definitely speeded up.Why? I have no idea.To ramp up the tension? Maybe.I found it VERY annoying, as the action was over far too fast. I suspect to cover up the lack of grace and smoothness if shown in real time. If the actors where moving this fast (which I seriously doubt) it should have been slowed down to allow the viewer to appreciate their skills--so therefore I rest my case.Young Kurt was quite captivating as an actor and fighter. JCVD priceless as usual. If you are hearing impaired you WILL struggle. No subtitles. Why spend billions (lol) on a film and not afford the services of a subtitle firm. A case of spoiling the ship for a 'hapeth of tar'! Enjoy.xIf you've not yet seen the original I thoroughly recommend that you do.(As with most things original is best, anything else is just a copy--good or bad.)

JEAN CLAUDE VAN DUBBED
Any young man growing up in the late 80's and the 90's will no doubt have fond memories of the original Kickboxer and Blood Sport. I know I certainly do. Kickboxer was cheesy back then and even cheesier now with the terrible acting and corny script. And who can forget that embarrassing drunken dance scene in the bar. But all that adds to the charm of the film much like the voice dubbing on The Man With No Name trilogy. But the fight scenes in Kickboxer are still something to behold. They are so authentic and seeing a young Van Damme doing all that stuff is still awesome today. No CGI nonsense here. But now we have this remake, Kickboxer Vengence...............and that I'm afraid, is a totally different story. It starts off pretty well and looks loverly on screen. In the remake Van Damme plays the trainer and can still show us some nifty movers which is impressive. But then it all falls apart very quickly indeed when all of a sudden JCVD 's is dubbed by some anus who sounds nothing like him. As the film goes on this happens more often for reasons I can't understand. And then there is an awful fight in the streets where the main character, Kurt, fights the baddies on top of some elephants. Truly terrible in evey sense of the word. The elephants look like cardboard cut outs. And the guy plying Kurt is by far one if the worst actors I've seen as is the rest the cast.Remember Tong Po from the original? He was great but the new one played by Dave B is pointless. He does nothing apart from prance around giving us the impression he can fight but obviously can't because he does absolutely sod all throughout the film. The special features are as bad as the movie with all involved, except Van Damne, trying to convince us the film is an exciting remake for a new age. It's not and the whole experience was a total insult. What's a real shame though, is that it could have good if someone had actully put some effort in and spent more than 20p on the budget. A missed opportunity here but now it's too late because they settled on this badly made, very badly acted pile of poo with an script written by someone who thinks they are clever. Avoid.
