Review: Great gadget good value, well made and easy to use - I bought a Kuuk spiralizer ,in order to be able to make my own courgettI in an effort to reduce weight by cutting down on the starches. The Kuuk is a great little device ,it works perfectly ,very easy to use and is well designed ,. I have made spiralizer courgettes, sweet potato and butter nut squash spirals. Also carrots and onions for salads . It's easy to clean and store as the blades you are not using store safely in the Base. No hesitation in recommending it Review: Fantastic Product - While searching the net for a spiralizer I came across this one and read the reviews which I think most people do and decided to order one.. It quickly arrived and I soon learnt how to use it. The wonderful sucker system on the bottom of the main unit keeps it in a solid n safe position whilst the handle turns the vegetable through the blades onto which ever dish you choose to collect the spirals into. Everything comes easily apart and is simple to clean.. one tip though is to treat yourself to cleaning brush, never use a sponge as the blades are very sharp. I have already made several of the recipes from the cook booklet that came with the machine and the whole family loves how many calories are being saved by replacing pasta with veg !! I am a happy customer.

A cheap spiralizer that works well, but does feel almost toy-like with a lightweight plastic construction.
We eat a lot of veggies in this household. Well, being vegan we would, wouldn't we. The arrival of 'spiralized' courgette and butternut squash in the supermarkets was something of a revelation. Not only in terms of texture and adding another variation for cooking with, but also the cost of the things. Having decided to invest in a spiralizer, the tricky bit has been deciding which one to spend our hard-earned cash, what we have of it, on. I say tricky and I mean it. Trying to separate the obviously fake 'paid for/promotional' reviews has proved difficult. However, by using the Internet as a whole and taking negative reviews on board, we decided that the cheap handheld items were a waste of time. Oddly enough, the same applies to many of the more expensive table-top ones. The ยฃ40 ones get just as many honestly bad reviews for non-sticking sucker feet, for example, as the ยฃ10 ones do. Eventually we opted for the Kuuk model as it was mid-priced at ยฃ15 and, importantly, had two features which made it stand out for us. The easy of swapping the blades in and out, and the single, large, lever-operated suction foot. The blades thing is vital, as boy are they sharp. Some models leave you handling them directly, pretty much, and that's a no-no. The Kuuk takes a safer approach which we like here. The blades are in a chunky plastic cartridge which is easy to handle safely, and slot then lock into place easily enough. They are also easy to clean under a running hot tap. The suction foot is also vital, as without proper stability a spiralizer simply fails to work properly. On the work surface in our kitchen, not granite but a bog standard laminated thing, the lever-operated suction pad (which is huge and takes up one half of the machine's underside) sticks like glue. This baby isn't going anywhere. Yet, being lever-operated, it's also easy to remove from the work surface once done. As for the actual spiralizing, so far we have only thrown courgette and carrot at it. Both worked, but it does take a bit of getting used to. Don't expect to be spiralizing like a pro on your first go. The harder veg is hardest, funnily enough, and takes a bit of firm pressure to get right. Butternut squash is next on the list which might prove interesting. You might think the 'plastic spikes' won't hold the veg firmly enough, but they do. Better than a separate metal skewer in my never humble opinion. Talking of plastic, that's my biggest criticism to be fair. At ยฃ15 it's good value, but it *feels* cheap when you are using it; almost toy-like. I'm hoping it proves to be stronger than it feels, and that the plastic handle, for example, doesn't break under the strain. Only time will tell. That said, I've docked a star for build quality. As it stands right now, it works well enough that it probably won't be condemned to a life of cupboard imprisonment next to the sandwich toaster and pressure cooker...

I bought this as a present for someone who lives overseas. I watched the actual spiralizer in action on Skype and I was utterly embarrassed for giving such a terrible gadget to someone dear to me. It's a real waste of money and, more importantly, vegetables because you end up with an uncut core. It's fine if you are chopping an apple but not so with a medium sized carrot! (Please see the picture attached) In my opinion this is a cheap imitation of better and branded spiral cutters that do not waste the centre of the vegetable. It's also lightweight and unsteady with one suction pad beneath. I have asked for a full refund but Amazon doesn't collect from overseas and the seller has not been in the least bit sympathetic so far.

Unreliable hocuspocus
After several use... The suction pad is unreliable. Long courgettes/carrots have to be cut because it wont fit within the gap. Hard veg require too much effort. because...Lack of suction means you have to hold the machine down and push sideways too. It will result long shredded pieces not spaghetti.

Solid on working surface, a doddle to use, makes vegetables interesting, relatively compact - Recommended
With many of my friends raving about spiralizers, I was compelled to start looking at the various models available on the market and opted for this product as the features, colour and price all met my needs. It comes with three different blades, Thin Spiral, Thick Spiral and Ribbon Cut - all of which are easy to insert whether you are using them as the cutting blade or storing. It has a decent suction cap on the base so when it use - it is solidly stuck to the working surface. It is extremely easy to use and in my case - certainly makes salads far more appealing to the eye. I have to mention here that when using - it does tend to "core" the vegetable - so in the case of a cucumber, where I particularly like the fleshy piece in the middle that contains the seeds - a large proportion had been removed. With a bit of adjustment, I have since managed to insert the cucumber where the seeds now remain, and some of the harder flesh in cored. The Sprializer is easy to clean and for storage it is quite compact. The blades are super sharp - not that you will be putting your fingers any where near them when in use. Just be careful when washing any of the blades as I found the ribbon cut blade not only cut through my drying cloth, but also gave me a rather deep gash on my thumb (which made me feel quite sick at the time!) - so be warned and handle with respect. I will personally be putting the blades on the top shelf of my dishwasher next time so that my hands and fingers stay intact! Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and its certainly a great gadget to promote healthy eating. In addition - it really can make salads / vegetables look interesting, so if you have children who are uninspired with vegetables - give this a go - there are some interesting and tasty recipes in the user guide which transform vegetables from being potentially boring to exciting. This product deserves a good 5 star rating in my opinion.

Great Gadget, It has a handy suction lever that holds this onto your kitchen workbench and stops it slipping. It has different blades for doing different kinds of spirals and its healthy. Its easy to clean and easy to operate. I think I have just about spiralized every kind of food that I possibly can since having this in my kitchen. Absolutely love it!
