I didn't purchase this to actually use as a telephone so I can't comment on its functionality, I bought it for 100% astectic purposes. It looks great.

The phone is beautiful in every way, but there is no sound coming through the ear piece. The directions that came with this phone, did not belong with this phone but was for a phone with a digital screen, as if someone had this phone and returned it for issues and someone just threw whatever directions in there. I don't know. There is also no volume control button/switch. I'm super disappointed because I got this as a birthday gift for my mother for her new antique shop, and she can't even use it. I would like to exchange for another, working phone please.

I have to dial 1+the area code+the number to dial any calls. The ring is not what I expected. I expected a ringtone that matches the era it came from.

I bought this phone as a decorative piece. I grew up believing my grandfather had a special phone he used to communicate with family members, the big red phone. I had a vision of it in my head and this embodies that vision. I showed my siblings and they agreed and as of today, less than 24 hours later, 5 of them are ordering the same for their houses, keeping the belief alive for the next generation!

It's cute. Don't like the ticking sound
