Great new edition that reflects the rising issue of energy security
The first edition of The Future of Energy set an award-winning standard for explaining a complex issue in a direct, engaging way. The new edition adds in the implications of the covid pandemic and Russia's invasion of Ukraine. It also offers updated views on the choices we have to generate, store and use energy. "Hydrogen - hope or hype?" reflects a theme that features throughout the book: what role can hydrogen realistically (and affordably) play in the Future of Energy. The discussion of covid asks whether habits such as commuting will change permanently. Ultimately, this edition's picture of the future of energy is more complex with a wide-ranging set of predictions at the end. But it's the strength of this book that it it's honest and comprehensive in laying out the choices we have.

Rip off. It's not a proper book
Haven't even started reading it yet. Opened the book and realised it's one of those books that has massive text and only three or four paragraphs a page. So you don't get your money's worth. Even though you paid for a proper bookGetting slowly tired of this sneaky trick. Can I be bothered with the hassle of returning it. Of course not. And whoever published it and sells it, knows thisIt could easily be condensed into 30 pages. So the other 170 pages are just wasted paper. I noticed the author did not include that in his carbon footprint that he proudly calculates at the start of the book. I read this 200 page book in about an hour. One hour! And I'm a very slow readerTotally misleading. Thanks for ripping me off. And wasting precious trees

A scam - not an actual book…
The media could not be loaded. Looks like someone scanned the whole book, printed it, cut it badly and put it together way worse than a 5 year old would have done.

helpful for humankind to understand energy related issues
This book is good for anyone interested in energy related issues. It also encourages us to think about our activities linking to energy consumption and related CO2 emissions. There are some potential future energy solutions like hydrogen, nuclear fusion and batteries, etc. But the author is focusing on the heat pumps which could be deployed practically fast.
