Alcatel MW40V-2AALGB1 - LinkZone 4G Cellular network router Linkzone MiFi

Considerably cheaper than all other new 4G MiFi routers, but does all the basics and offers genuine 4G speeds. I'm getting >12Mbit/s down, >8Mbit/s up in rural Gloucestershire on GiffGaff (O2 backbone). The device is unlocked to any network and seemed to auto-detect settings based on my SIM card. The admin interface is simple to use, easy to change password, SSID, DHCP IP pool, DNS, etc. Multicast DNS .local / .lan addressing also works, as you'd expect. Only downside is that I cannot work out how to turn off sleep mode. The router goes to sleep 30 minutes after the last device disconnects from WiFi, and you have to press a physical button to reactivate it. Annoyingly this seems to be a missing feature in this "unlocked" firmware, as the firmware shipped with the variant locked to Three does allow sleep to be turned off (according to Three's website). But that's a minor niggle - so long as at least one device remains connected, the router stays awake. Battery life will vary by 4G signal strength (as with any mobile-network device, it'll use more power to "shout" in low signal areas), but I got around 6 hours in a 4-bar signal area.

I'm pretty happy with this! Been using it in my motorhome whilst traveling into the vast remote areas of Scotland and N. England and it's been pretty flawless! Only thing I wish it did was turn itself off if not connected to any devices. Forgetting to switch this off will drain is battery.

I live on a houseboat. I’ve tried everything. Outdoor aerials, hot spots, every conceivable router and this is the only one that works! Drops out rarely, small and very simple to set up . Runs my smart tv and my Mac at the same time so really good value for money . Now I’ve got to get rid of all the crappy other ones I’ve accumulated!!

Nice to place it around the room for better signal reception. Wifi is working good. The web UI is really basic but it allows you to take care of all the tasks easily.

Good price and delivery. Product needs better battery life though.

Brilliant, got a 'Smarty' contract from 3G, to go with it, unlimited for life on 4G, just £18.75!!!!! Free 5G upgrade coming as well!!

the micro card does nothing, you cannot connect to it through any device unless you plug it directly into a windows laptop/pc which no one has any use for, its half the reason i bought it, customer advice centre are USELESS and just try and get you to reset the device over and over,do not buy if this is an important feature, otherwise it really does what it says,plus a sim card in and it auto configures immediately and you are on the internet, but all spoiled by the fact i purchased a micro sd card to share music and tv and i cant even access it, customer rep did not care in the slightest

Decia que era desbloqueado y no fue así, intenté con chip Telcel y Movistar . Hice un gasto importante para nada. Realmente no puedo calificar el funcionamiento del producto por eso mi calificación.

I purchased a SIM card and data plan from Mint Mobile and activated it (this is a reseller on the T-Mobile network). I verified with the SIM in my phone that the card was active and I could use the data. I then put the SIM card into the Alcatel device, and while it could receive SMS messages for that number, it would not provide data (even after adding the T-Mobile APN as directed). So it just didn't work for me after a few hours trying to get it working. The device itself seems outdated and it might just have issues working with newer technology, I don't know. In any event, I cannot recommend.
