Cthulhu: The Ancient One Tribute Box

Absolutely top quality piece, looks just like the photos. Very hefty and can be used as a paperweight or just as a state/Bas-relief. Book is also great very informative and funny. Would definitely recommend to any Lovecraft fan

Truly exceeded my expectations! Interesting little book, not too keen on the display stand, but the statue itself is stunning! The photos on the listing look like an unpainted version of the statue. Actual idol is a wonderful dark green and looks weathered wonderfully! Nice but of weight to him too. For the price I would have been happy a plastic statue, but I'm more than happy he's quite a hefty plaster (?) model! Looks great, nice detail, good even colour and has a decent weight to it. The box was pretty cool looking too.

This review is solely for the statue. The booklet and stand are fine.The statue is great (and great value for money) but on my one the bottom outer left wing tip at the back was broken off (it is painted so must have been broken off prior to painting} and there is a tiny scratch on the paintwork on the top left wing tip, revealing white underneath. A felt-tip pen will probably solve that.I almost returned it for a replacement but you'd have to look closely to see either flaw and there is no guarantee that the next one would be flawless. Better the devil you know...

Looks way better in real life than on the pictures. Recommend.

For the price, great little statue. Accompanying book isn't really anything much but love the statue, it's sitting with my Arkham Horror and Eldritch Horror games :D

I’m a keeper for call of Cthulhu and felt I needed to praise to the great old one while playing so this is exactly what I needed! The statue itself has a lot of detail a little book with some artwork and a bit of backstory curious? Roll me a library use and find out

Extraordinaria

Let's be honest. That's the only reason to buy this. The "book" barely qualifies as more than a pamphlet. It's the equivalent of an article off some pop-culture website proclaiming to explain this whole "Cthulhu" thing to the masses. It's about 45 "pages", but a lot of them are illustrations.... Including a meme taken from the internet, it appears. There is no original art in it, just pictures of other Cthulhu products and such. Nobody who is even passingly familiar with the subject will learn anything new or interesting from it.The star of the show is the statue. And it's good. Other than being too small (The original text suggests about 8 inches high, this is more like 4-5), it's fairly close to both the description in the book and the couple of drawings of the idol attributed to Lovecraft. It has the more conventional two-eye head, rather than the possibly more accurate six-eyed head, but beyond that, and the size, it's quite accurate. The sculpt is fantastic, and the paint job, while not anything special, gets the job done quite nicely. It's a heavy little thing, feeling like polystone resin.Absolutely well worth 15 dollars to a Lovecraft or Cthulhu fan, just for the statue... You can pay more for less, if you're looking for an idol of the Dreamer. and it comes with a free bit of kindling to start your sacred fire.
