Product Description A small town singer, Ali (Christina Aguilera), moves to the big city for her chance at stardom where she is enchanted by Burlesque, a glamorous nightclub packed with dancers, sizzling music, and an owner (Cher) in need of a star. Jam-packed with visually stunning musical numbers and an all-star cast featuring Eric Dane, Kristen Bell and Stanley Tucci. desertcart.co.uk Review There is, according to Burlesque, a nightclub on the Sunset Strip that looks like a blend of Cabaret and Moulin Rouge and employs a full contingent of dancers and musicians in the service of a neo-retro-burlesque-blues program. Presiding over the craziness within is Tess, a grande dame who also performs occasionally and who could only, under these circumstances, be played by Cher. Entering the scene is a young leather-lunged hopeful from Iowa named Ali, played by Christina Aguilera in her movie-acting debut. The vibe of this glitzy concoction is more Flashdance than Showgirls, despite prerelease predictions that the film would be a campfest of epic proportions. In fact, it's more cornball than trashy. Ali hits most of the clichés of the genre: defying Tess's skepticism by proving her mettle during an impromptu stage number; flirting with the nice-guy bartender (Cam Gigandet, of Twilight) whose home she shares for a while, in a purely platonic way, of course, just until she gets her feet on the ground; and keeping a wary eye on the high roller (Eric Dane, of Grey's Anatomy) who wants to possess her, because, you see, he takes whatever he likes. And did we mention that Tess is facing foreclosure on the club in a month's time? Seriously, you didn't see that coming? Writer-director Steve Antin has no embarrassment about putting any of this across, which may be why it all feels weirdly innocent, if relentlessly silly. Stanley Tucci revives his gay assistant from The Devil Wears Prada, Alan Cumming lurks about in an undefined role that might well have been filmed months after everybody else, and Kristen Bell enjoys a few wicked-witch moments as Ali's main rival. Aguilera, needless to say, belts out her songs as only someone with a very large voice can, and Cher stops the show with an old-fashioned torch song ("You Haven't Seen the Last of Me") that is clearly designed as a roof-raiser. (And, by gum, it works.) This is a ridiculous movie, but it gets points for never claiming to be anything else. --Robert Horton Review: Mine - Love this film❤️ Review: Guilty Pleasure - Bought this movie on the advice of a Christina Aguilera obsessed pal, and was glad I let him talk me into it. A true guilty pleasure watch as musicals are most certainly NOT my thing. Got to admit that I really enjoyed this film. Cher and Christina are very likable and have a great supporting cast with Stanley Tucci (always dependable) Kristen Bell and Cam Giganet (hope I’ve spelled that right?) filling in the roles. Typical small town gal made good story, but told with style to burn and some great songs and dances along the way. Highly recommended.

Better Than I Expected
As somebody who lists Chicago and Moulin Rouge as two of my fave films, Burlesque sounded like something I'd enjoy. The two main actresses in the film also happen to be two of my favourite singers too which made this film more appealing. Cher is a legend in her own right and despite the tabloid stories, Christina Aguilera has imo the best pair of lungs in modern music and boy oh boy does it show in this film. Kicking off with Something's Gotta Hold On Me and following Ali's journey from small town to LA's burlesque scene there are some really catchy tunes this film will be ideal for any girl's night in. Cher's song award winning 'You Haven't Seen The Last Of Me' is pure gold, her voice is as pure as it was decades ago. Whilst Christina also shows of her balladry skills with Bound To You (her ballad skills are impeccable following her singles Beautiful, Hurt and You Lost Me). There are great supporting actors and actresses in this film including a certain Mr Cummings who had me laughing away with his banana dance routine (rude but very funny). The costumes, the music and the acting is top notch and whilst the script may be predictable it is certainly a very enjoyable affair. Plus there's plenty of eye candy for both sexes. Anyone fancy one of Jack's cookies?

“Don’t ever call me ma’am….”
Burlesque was released at the end of 2010 starring Cher and Christina Aguilera, marking pop singer Aguilera’ debut as an actress. Ali Rose (Aguilera) quits her dead end waitress job and heads to Los Angeles and is intrigued by a burlesque club run by feisty Tess [Cher] and takes up waitressing there in order to get her foot in the door as a would-be dancer. Tess is struggling to keep the nightclub open and gives Ali her break, serving as her mentor, but new girl Ali is shunned by the others and has to prove herself to be accepted. The opening is very ‘Cabaret’ in style but almost immediately gets a more upbeat modern take. Christina Aguilera puts in a better than expected role and Cher is predictably on form. The numbers are grinding and punchy with some raunchy routines and crisp photography. So where does it go wrong? The film takes its plot too seriously, Burlesque is fun an irreverent, but here the back plot is far too gloomy as the continual infighting tends to pull the highs down into a low, realistic and modern it may try to be, but it takes the edge off and sometimes makes the film appear to be too long. Unlike the escapism of ‘Chicago’ and ‘Moulin Rouge’ one feels like ’Burlesque’ tones down a developed plot/storyline to concentrates on a pop video approach and the film suffers from it. The discs main menu offers; Audio [5 European languages], subtitles [7 languages], special features [commentary, Burlesque jukebox, alternate opening, blooper reel] and trailers [blu ray add and 4 films]. The bulk of the tracks are by Aguilera so if you don’t like her voice, avoid this. Chicago, Moulin Rouge or Cabaret, this isn’t, but it does entertain although some could feel let down by it. Undoubtedly a **** rating but I think it will lack the staying power of other movies mentioned –time will tell. Well worth the current £3.50 price tag.

Wonderful Movie! Best Musical in ages.
I was so happy to see two of my all time favourite Women starring the same Film... Burlesque! We all know Christina Aguilera has the greatest voice of all time but she can act too; she is funny and charming in her debut acting role, though of course next time i hope for a much meatier part, im sure she will shine. Cher was Great as always but sometimes her angry face looks more like she's trying to go to the toilet; that is my only criticism of her. Burlesque is full of Music, love, Beautiful Women and an almost fully naked Cam Gigandet! It's amazing and im so glad to see it's getting a great reaction from the box office and critics. Christina Aguilera has never disappointed but is constantly evolving as an artist; she is a Legend in her own right and i can't wait to see what is coming next.
