Five classic albums from the English-American folk rockers who took the 70s by storm. Includes America, Hat Trick, Hearts, Holiday and Homecoming. Review: Brilliant value and uses the latest masters so sounds epic - Brilliant collections. The America on in particular is an audiophile dream as the title album in particular sounds absolutely amazing. (On a good set of speakers) The guitars and other instruments just sound absolutely epic. I did find out that these pressings use the latest masters of the albums so you really are getting an absolute bargain. I think this is such a smart move for artists to allow these releases as the money isnโt in album sales like it was before the 2000s but at least some album revenue is going their way vs the pittance they get paid on Spotify. Highly recommend looking for other collections to pick up. Review: Great set of albums. - Great set of albums from America. I have the originals in perfect condition on vinyl, but CDs these days add extra availability. I remember the pub in Hackney forever playing A Horse With No Name when the single came out. Plenty of other great songs on these CDs. Fantastic value. Ventura Highway, Tin Man... Beats the "music" pumped out today.

They were excellent, but I never bought any of their records
I remember going to see America in the early 70s, at the old Marquee club in Wardour st., FREE entry with the Melody Maker ad, They were excellent, but I never bought any of their records.........? This set is still great to this day, unfortunately the 5th disc, and most recent album, doesn't do it for me, otherwise it would have been 5 stars! Value for money, brilliant, I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves Crosby Stills & Nash, go down that road, and your there!

Stunning America !
America stormed onto the Music Scene with the brilliant Maxi Single " A Horse With No Name/Sandman/Everyone I meet Is From California" at the top of 1972 . It just missed out on reaching the top spot. Despite minor hits from then on , the story did not end. In fact it goes on in different ways. I have been a little bit disappointed in previous reviewers who have slammed the George Martin years. The five albums on here are worth anybody's money at the snip of a price. I detected a certain snobbery in dismissing the last two discs of this multi pack. It is a reflection of the times that the band changed course and looking at it retrospectively the 70's was that way in any case . It was a volatile decade. I can only suggest that you buy this and play all five cd's in turn over and over again .That way you can make up your own mind. Great Albums from a great band.

Five of America
Easily a great purchase for anyone wanting to collect the most important albums by America. This is a really great release. I really love this set of albums and this presentation is brilliant, Five original albums each on individual discs and nicely presented in vinyl replica card sleeves and an outer card box. If you have never heard any America then think of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young or the Eagles and you have some sort of idea what to expect. America have their own distinctive style however. There are some true gems across these albums. If you have liked anything by America before then these albums are a safe bet and at a good price for five albums its worth investigating. The albums themselves are all excellent and this is an ideal way to get all five at a budget price. The sound quality is very good and the whole set takes up little room in a CD collection.

Best collection so far in the "5 originals" series
Looks like this "5 originals" series is going viral with more and more bands lending their names. America, a one-hit wonder in the UK but a multi-hit megaband in just about every OTHER country of the world - yeah, another "blame Radio 1 playlist policy" case, the BBC have a lot of answer for, depriving UK listeners of some fine artists and music over the years - bring us their first 5 albums, the first 3 of which are largely self-produced and have an intriging progressive feel lacking in the last 2, produce by George Martin. America's trademark "electraccoustic" guitar work shines on the first album, and the vocal harmonising developes over the span of the albums. Discover another side of America, most people know them for "Horse with no name" and a bunch of other almost-hits in the UK, but this is a chance to get hold of their fine album tracks, sadly left out from their "Greatest Hits" compilations. George Martin's pop-style influence can clearly be heard on the last 2 albums in the set, in my view the poorest albums here - there's a lot more to music than melody and potential hit singles, something George Martin was sublimely unaware of. Had America chosen a different path who knows, their fortunes may have been very different - but they opted for George Martin and it wiped them out. Enjoy the first 3 fine albums and tolerate the final 2.

The Real Deal, Not Another Overhyped and Underwhelming Compilation
This is, for the price of one CD (thereabout), the first five album releases from one of the pioneering bands in the California/Country Rock genus which greatly influenced American pop/rock in the early to middle nineteen seventies. There are no studio flubs nor previously unreleased live performances, etc. This is one-stop shopping that gets you five very important recordings from an age when the music (for the most part) was pure and honest, as bands like America enjoyed a freedom to create and express themselves in their own way for a brief interval in rock history. America's first album gives testimony to this claim. The entire album is built upon experimental acoustic rock that didn't really hold much promise of being chart-worthy. I'm sure no record producer in the world would have predicted a song like "A Horse With No Name" would leap to great heights on the Billboard Top 40, much less that it would leap to the number one spot and attach itself to the pinnacle position for three full weeks. The only real chart potential the album had (looking back, in retrospect, with all things considered) was in the Gerry Beckley should-have-been-number-one-song, "I Need You". Gerry Beckley told me, in person, that he wrote the song when he was only sixteen years old. (Gerry and Dewey typically hang around after shows to meet with fans - these guys are for real!) I'm not sure that a prettier love ballad has ever been written. I could go on for hours about why this collection is such a gem, but I'll let you take it from here. I already had four of the five CDs (I failed to pick up Hat Trick at any point throughout the passage of many long years), but this five-album set was irresistible! I paid about twenty dollars for something I would have paid much more for! That's the standard, everyday price for this trophy collection (subject to market fluctuations, no doubt)! These are the best works from one of the nineteen seventies' most important and influential bands. And, if I may segue a bit and be so bold, as I will...I just want to make it known that Neil Young WISHES he ever had a voice as beautiful and true as Dewey Bunnell's was - and still is! Let history record my words and know them to be fact! Now, order this set! Do it! Now! Off you go!
