Outdoor Research Radar Pocket Cap

First off, I was very impressed with the packaging and how the hat came in a nice box. It actually makes for a far nicer presentation than I expected (which was just to have a crumpled hat in an envelope). The hat, itself is extremely lightweight, cool and comfortable. The large size happened to fit my head almost perfectly, just slightly loose, which was unexpected since I have a fairly large melon. I like the unstructured, foldable design which allows you to carry it in a day pack or pocket so you can always have head protection on you when you need it. That's why I consider it an EDC hat because it's the only one I have that I can keep on me without having to wear it all day. Seems well constructed and I like the cool feel of the Supplex nylon. Finally, I like the fact that there aren't any strange adjustment straps to fool with, just a simple, fitted design. I realize this may turn off some people, especially those with long hair who want to wear it in a ponytail but if you've got short hair or are bald, this is the one!

Top notch cadet cap!! The large fit my 7 1/2 sized noggin perfectly and very comfortably. Love how lightweight the material is and it has the military look I want without actually being like all the non-breathable surplus hats out there I have. I love it and might order another one for a backup while it’s still on sale.

I’m a big fan of cadet caps in general, and the Outdoor Research brand in particular. I’ve owned a waterproof version of this hat for years that goes everywhere I travel. It’s a bit hot sometimes so I decided to pick up a non-waterproof version in a different color. The hat is lightweight and designed to fold in half and easily sit in your back pocket or a backpack when not in use. It has a lower profile that looks good on me, whereas baseball caps sometimes swallow my head and make me look 14. The only issue I had was sizing. My other O/R hat was a large, but this large was way too big. So back it went for a Medium, which is a bit tight but will stretch over time. O/R must have changed its sizing over the years, so check closely when you order. I paid $22 for this, and have noticed that the price fluctuates. So I’d suggest adding it to your cart and let Amazon tell you when the price drops.

I LOVE this hat! I have bought so many hats over the years, but have never worn any of them because my head is small. This one was perfect for what I needed it for. I went on a backpacking trek with my son and his Scouts BSA Troop. For one of our shakedown hikes, I wore a typical sun/beach hat with a wide brim al the way around, but the back of the hat hit the top of my large backpack, and it made me hold my head in a weird position. So I needed a hat with no brim in the back, but traditional baseball or truckers hats don't work for me. I picked this hat because I could wad it up and stuff it in my pack or pocket when not in use, it kept the sun out of my eyes, it hid my hair that went unwashed for multiple days!, it kept the mosquitoes and flies off of my head, it kept the rain out of my eyes and off of my glasses, it dried quickly, it provided a structure for the bug net to go over, it is machine washable!, and it is SO CUTE!

Love this hat! Looks - a bit more stylish than a typical baseball cap - the shape is more rectangular than usual bowling ball shape. Functionality - it really does fold up and fit in a pocket! Or a purse or carry-on bag. Takes up minimal space. Fit - Good fit for me. Did not see any way to make adjustments, so check sizing before ordering. Misc. - Depending on how thick and high your ponytail is, you may have issues wearing this hat. Ellewin makes a similar hat that has an opening for a ponytail and an interior drawstring for adjustments. The bill is longer, and it folds in thirds. I have both and like them both but for different occasions - yard work vs hiking vs casual wear.

I picked up my first of these while thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2014. After 2000+ miles it's still in great shape, despite some unsightly sweat stains. I've picked up a few more since then simply because they just tick every box for me: Foldable, lightweight, durable, there's a loop inside to hang or attach it to something, it has 50 UPF protection, and it's nice and unassuming looking. Honestly it's tough to find a hiking hat that doesn't look awkward and I don't like baseball or trucker hats, so this military style cap fits the bill perfectly.

A superb, comfortable hat. Fits like a glove and packs small... brim perhaps a little small, but all round ideal! I have purchased a spare just in case! Ideal!

I have loved these Radar Pocket Caps for years and have ordered several different colors in the past. The Medium size caps that were made in China were always a perfect fit. Now the caps are made in Vietnam, and, as others have said, they now runslarge. I loved the dark blue color, but, alas, I will have to return this cap because of the change in sizing. The size change, also means that I won't be ordering any more of these caps in the future, as long as they continue to run large. I am very dissappointed about that. Oh, well. My loss may be a gain to someone who needs a slightly larger size than I do. FYI, for those who are curious... this cap has the same rounded shape on the top as the radar caps of the past. It is not squarish as shown in the Amazon photo. Also, the logo on the front of the cap is not an obtrusive white as shown in the Amazon photo. It is actually more of a lead gray. The logo is large as shown, but it is not overbearing due to the gray color. Personally, I prefer my logos to be on the tags inside my clothes and not emblazoned on the outside. Four star rating. One star penalty for the change in sizing and the large logo, which I would like to see be more discrete.

My wife decided to put my previous hat in the washing machine, didn’t turn out well. It was clean, but it got a bit torn up. Much googling found this supplier, bought a new one. Exactly the same colour as the one the washing machine ruined. So I’m very happy, because it is my favourite go-to hat. It is an excellent hat, it fold neatly, and wears very well.

The Outdoor Research Radar Pocket Cap is an amazing hat. I bought this for travel to Spain. Wanted something, lightweight and easy to stow when walking and entering museums and churches where I needed to remove it quickly and have a place to put it when not carrying a backpack. Excellent quality, fit, and comfort. So easy to fold and put in one's pocket. Don't think I'll ever use a different cap now. I'm using it at home now instead of my other caps. Well designed item that is just right for all occasions.

Brillante idée que d'avoir fait cette visière pliante ! La casquette a une belle coupe, le tissus sèche très vite. L'ensemble est léger, et surtout très pratique car elle se plie facilement pour se glisser dans une poche de pantalon, une petite pochette de sac à dos, ect. Hyper pratique, c'est devenu ma casquette fétiche !
