AmScope Tabletop Digital Microscope with Variable Working-Distance and 11in Articulating Arm

The microscope/camera is wonderful at putting difficult to view, clear, and nicely magnified images on a monitor, but does not connect to a PC (Dell Precision 7710 with WIN 7 64 bit). The PC does not register that it is plugged into any USB port at all, but works with everything else I plug into it. The camera draws USB power, but just blinks on and off continuously. Tech support was only able to suggest reinstalling the software, which I did several times, but to no avail. After I tried the camera on several other PCs in my office, I gave up and returned the first one and ordered another. The new one arrived today and it has the same exact problems, so it is going back as well. I suspect the software, which is a plebian attempt at best, is the culprit. It doesn't appear that there even exists a driver for the device. I'll be moving on to something that has been properly tested.

I bought this so I could view and photograph micro-minerals. However, my laptop did not recognize the instrument. There are no instructions on how to fix this on the manual nor on the web. The package had a DVD with software but my laptop does not have a DVD drive and there were no instructions as to how to get drivers on the web. When I finally installed the software via a thumb drive, it still didn't work. The "manual" that came with the instrument is vague and not very useful. I suppose the microscope is meant to be connected to a monitor only. If there is a way to connect it to a laptop, the manufacturer offers no clue. After hours of frustration with it, I sent it back. Definitely not recommended.

We use this for splicing fiber optics and viewing finished product.We've connected it via the HDMI to a Dell Dock and use OBS Studio (free download) to view images from several cameras for sharing on Zoom.I've purchased three units and use them daily.
