best CD-R's I've ever used
Firstly I want to say that I am an audio engineer, these CD's are perfect for me because I need the lowest error rates possible and nothing even comes close (except HHB gold 74) but for most projects I will give the client the final master on one of these very CD-R's! not one has ever failed me and the quality of them is well worth the extra cost even though they seem expensive at first. I've burned 100's of them and not one failure yet...Theses CD's as bizarre as it sounds do actually improve sound quality and longevity of whatever media you decide to put on them, I've also used them for data backups, photos, and quality of the dye on the underside is second to no-one! unlike most CD-R's you can clearly see the grooves where the laser has cut the audio or data, another gripe is the packaging it comes in... it's literally a shrink wrapped plastic with no spindle to store them on, the only close competition is something like HHB media gold 74 CD-R's but compared to the cost of these I'd rather just keep using Taiyo Yuden as they are guaranteed to still be working in years to come unlike almost all other competition.I like them so much that I plan to get some DVD+R's for data storage and also some of the blank blue ray disks.I'll never go back to cheap media, I've been converted.

unlucky or gone downhill?
60% failure rate...glitches and noise. tested against sony & tdk cdr's...at matched burn rates. this batch consistently failed! quality CD burner & HOFA software.....unlucky?...below is an edited comment on a sound forum:it depends very much on your drive and on the media you are using. Taiyo Yuden discs used to be good but the name was sold to CMC recently so they are now rebadging their discs with the Taiyo Yuden name. I wouldn't use CMC discs for anything serious although they are fine for demos that only have to last a few months. The data on a CD is recorded in a long spiral with the start of the data on the inside and the end at the outside. In a standard CD player the disc will rotate faster at the beginning of the disc where the laser is reading close to the centre of the disc. As you play the disc it will gradually rotate more slowly until the laser reaches the end of the disc which will be towards the outer edge. As far as the laser is concerned, the data will be coming off the disc at the same speed all the time. This is known as constant linear velocity (CLV) and the standard read speed for an audio CD is commonly referred to as 1X (or one times standard speed). In the early days, all players and recorders used CLV but, as speeds increased, it proved to be a limitation. If you try to run at more than 16X on the inner part, the disc has to rotate so fast that any imbalance in the disc could cause a poorly made disc to shatter. In order to get over this, drives were designed to allow the data to be read at varying speeds across the surface of the disc. They would rotate the disc at the same speed all the time which gave a read speed of 16X on the inner part but up to 52X on the outer part. This is known as constant angular velocity (CAV).There are also variations on these themes where a drive may use CLV but change speed at certain points on the disc. Other drives may use CLV on part of the disc and then switch to CAV.Personally, when burning masters I set the drive speed so that it uses CLV all the way through which means using speeds of 16X or lower.Another thing to check is that you are working in Disc At Once (DAO) mode where the write laser is on continuously for the whole burn process. Some drives or software may default to Track At Once mode when burning audio discs where the laser is switched off at the end of each track and then on again for the next track. This can cause clicks between tracks. Finally, you should make sure all your tracks occupy a whole number of CD frames. If a track ends part way through a frame, the CD burning software may pad the end of the track with zeros to fill the final frame. The CD frame rate is 75 frames per second and you can often set your DAW to work at that rate.

TAIYO YUDEN CD-R 48x WHITE FULL FACE INKJET PRINTABLE
These are excellent, professional quality, disks but they need to be sold in tubs! The only problem is the plastic rap around the stack of disks because it stuck to the disks!

You can't go wrong!
This product is brilliant. There have been no failures or problems. I have been using them for music and they give the best results I have had to date in terms of sound quality. They seem completely compatible with all my CD players, including my Sony Portable, the set in my car and both my old and new CD players. My old player is over 20 years old and was never designed to play CD-R's. It plays these without any problems whilst other brands play sometimes some of the time. The only problem was in the packaging. They could have been supplied on a spindle. This would have been better in storage terms as they spill out from the plastic sheet wrapping. I view these high quality discs as excellent value for money but yes they are a little bit more expensive than the average. But you have to pay for really good quality. You can't go wrong. Buy with complete confidence.

Best CDs around
Faultless. Very high quality and with a seemingly non-existent fail rate. Can't see a reason to ever buy another brand. Would be nice to have them on some sort of spool/ stalk though rather than just stacked and shrink wrapped.

they are the best, although i was led to believe the were also music only compatible (for copying machines that demand such) they are in fact just data discs so will record music only via computer, a frustrating and misleading error. I wish I could purchase genuine originals but these, by JVC using the TY dye system remain the 2nd best on the market.
