This is a good size chess board. It fits well on the coffee table. The pieces are smooth with no rough spots and have nice detail. The felt on the bottom keeps them from scratching the board. There is also felt on the bottom of the chess board itself.Some people mentioned that checker pieces are not included, but we happily received the checker pieces in our set. The chess set was carefully packaged in a sturdy box.We appreciate the fact that you can store the pieces inside of the chess board chest.This was a wedding present from my daughter to her husband and he loved it. The only thing it could be lacking, and it's not really any issue, more an upgrade suggestion, it's a spot in the storage area for a die or a coin which is used to determine who goes first. Made in China.

Came earlier than expected. Great price, fast shipping. The chess set is beautiful and also came with extra felt feet for the board.

Great board and pieces with ample storage area

This seems to be a very well made chess set. I bought it as a Christmas gift so we haven't had it for long. I would have rated it 5 stars except for there were no checkers in the set. As someone else stated the spot for the checkers is filled with foam. After looking at the description again it does not show there are checkers pieces included however, it is sold as a Chess/Checkers set so I expected them to be included.Another issue I had was that when it arrived, and I tried to pull the drawer out it was completely stuck. All of the chess pieces were scattered in the drawer and wedged into upright positions making it next to impossible to open the drawer without damaging some of the pieces and the drawer itself.Other than that it is a beautiful set to use and display.

My grandson really liked it. The wood box was well made and the playing pieces were made well and easy to hold.

The board looks great and is fun to play on. It is well finished. All of the pieces fit snugly in their slots. I believe the layout of the chess board or backgammon board is off by 90 degrees when you open it. It would be ideal if you could open the boards and have them be correct when they are side by side. With the backgammon board, the latches and hinges face the opponents. You must rotate the chess board 90 degrees for the layout to be correct with the white square in the near right corner and the hinges are then on the side. That is really nitpicking. We have been enjoying learning and playing backgammon, which was a free option!

I believe we paid about $60'ish for this board. It seems to be well built. My grandson (9) loves it. Great first set of chess, backgammon and checkers. I have seen and played with many other boards/sets of each of these games and for the price you cannot go wrong, especially for a gift for a first time user like my grandson.
