Great product
I absolutely love this trash can. It has a built in hard plastic ring that comes down to secure the trash bag into place. This is simply awesome. My cat can't get into it and has so far not been able to tip it over. (she's working on it). It seals in the odors too. Its a nice, large capacity that fits the 30 gallon bag perfectly. Its great that while this can is filling up I don't have to look at the garbage or smell it either. I recommend this to anybody. Buy different colors for your recycling. Very well made and durable product. It looks nice too. I bought the silver or grey color and even though its a large can, it does not look obtrusive in the kitchen. I'm very happy with this purchase.

lid will stay wide opened
For those complaining that the lid will not open all the way there is a fix for this. I initially thought I also had this issue. After looking at the lid I discovered that the black bar that goes to each side of the lid needed to be slid to the front circle area of the lid. After this simple adjustment it works perfectly!

Not sturdy
It is a well looking, inexpensive and easy to clean trash can. However, if you are looking for one of those sturdy ones, better get a fully metal can. This one has the open/close mechanism also made of plastic and it does not look that it is going to last long, although there are just mostly two of us and we are aware of the situation so it may work for us. Still a good value for the money, considering all these trash cans are so expensive these days.

I believe in second chances
Loved this can upon arrival, but it’s been less than a month and the lid is already compromised. We’ve gone through just 5 trash bags, and the lid is cracked. I love the capacity and versatility of the can, I just wished it hadn’t broke so easily. I’m wondering if it just went through a lot with shipping/handling, and I would give it another try if offered a replacement.UPDATE: They sent a replacement and it's just as expected- woop woop! Haiku FTW:Got a new trash can.Thirteen gallon swag on lock, foot pedal on fleek!

great and friendly unit
I would only suggest that they use some kind of stop skid on the bottom. The smooth bottom would move backwards a couple inches when pedal was pressed down. I fixed it with some rubber weather seal that I had around. Otherwise, it is a very sturdy and handsome unit. The feature that covers up the top of the bag is a nice cosmetic feature and very easy to use. Costs about 10 bucks more that the cheapo unit I found elsewhere, but it is much heavier grade plastic and has that really cool cosmetic feature.

KEEP LOOKING
This trash can arrived at my doorstop in dinky packaging. There were scratches on the back side of the lid which comes disassembled from the rest of the can. The whole thing is plastic which I knew before purchasing this; however, the plastic is super cheap. When attempting to assemble the stupid can, I quickly learned that the soft-close lid mechanism wasn't going to work as the lid never really snapped into place properly. Needless to say, the lid barely opened let alone had a functioning "soft-close" mechanism. I had my husband look at the trash can when he got home that day thinking maybe he could figure out what was wrong with the thing. Sure enough there was no fixing that could be done. We returned the can back to amazon (fortunately without any problems). I ended up going with a similar plastic version of this can made by Simple Human. I was reluctant to go with plastic again, but I was able to check the can out and actually purchase it in person. I ended up saving money using a coupon where the trash can actually ended up being cheaper than this umbra can. As for the can itself, the plastic is not nearly as cheap, I don't have to worry about fingerprints such as the ones you easily get on a stainless steel can, and best of all the soft-close mechanism WORKS!! I haven't had the can long yet, but so far I am in LOVE with it and, aesthetically, it looks great in my kitchen. So do yourself a favor - save your time and money by going with a Simple Human trash can instead!!!

Some flaws, but it’s okay.
I’m sure I missed it in the item description, and some might like it, but this trash can comes with some sort of mechanism that keeps the lid from closing right away. Like a hydraulic thing. I don’t like to have to wait for my trash can lid to close so I had my husband removed the little mechanism that did that, so now it just closes normally. The other couple things I don’t like is that the edges of the can where you put the bag on and the little retaining lid that keeps the bag in place are sharp plastic that could cut your skin. My last complaint is that the trash can is a tad bit wider than the typical standard kitchen trash bag, therefor I have to stretch my trash bags pretty good before being able to put them in the can. I do like the color of the can, the foot pedal works good and it is pretty sturdy, especially because it didn’t break when my husband removed the little thingamabobber that stopped the lid from closing.

Good quality trash can
First of all I can't believe how expensive trash cans have become. For some reason my household goes through about 1 teash can every year, maybe because I have a house full of boys. I've has nice ones, pretty ones, stainless steel, pet-proof, etc. For the price I paid for this (less expensive than wal-mart and other retail stores) it's proven to be very durable. It's super easy to clean, easy to install and remove the bags and the rim that hold the bag is much better than previously purchased, more expensive ones. It's very lightweight and easy to carry from room-to-room if need be. Also, depite the many times it's been kicked (ugh, boys rough housing), knocked over, the constsnt pedal action for opening the can dozens of times a day... it still looks and works like brand new. I highly recomment this product!
