Excellent cat flap
Came with everything you need for an easy installation, including various lengths of screws to support different door thickness. The functionality is superb, particularly the indicator to show whether the cat is in or out, and for how long. We use that a lot. The locking mechanism is quick, accurate and quiet, and our cat is not distracted by the whirring of the motor mechanism.

Terrible defective product littered with design flaws.
Quite possibly the worse product I have ever ever purchased. Totally unfit for purpose and just does not work. Sensors physically don't work. Programmes up fine so it must read. Cat tries to enter......just will not open. I am an engineer so I understand these devices. It is littered with technical issues and design faults. The support helpline has a guy who is totally defensive and condescending who tried to tell me that the metal in my upvc plastic door was interfering with signal. No......a there is no metal I checked........b. ..the unit programme fine.... he then tells me I need to calibrate it by removing batteries and placing them back in. ...I used to be a battery design engineer this makes no difference and didn't. . This has no relation to the faults of the unit. The unit opens and closes randomly........he said that's normal...it's to reset a stuck door if it detects it's open still. Yes it is open because I pegged it open as instructed. Training mode should disable this open and closing feature as it tells you peg it open. Totally poor I'll though out design. Does not support selective exit so kitten can escape when you want to keep 1 in and let adult out. The noise of the mechanism is so loud it frightens the cat. He refused to use it and stayed outside looking at it for 10 hours in rain. This is literally the worst product imaginable. Read this review and do not even think about buying it. I am not one of those idiots who can't use the product properly. I design complex machinery for a living. Do not waste your money. I had to tape the manual coller chip to the unit in the end. (Aweful). I then thought to myself. What the he'll am I doing send this junk back. They told me I was 2 days late for registering warranty so can't. I said well your having it back anyway. Amazon took my return. Thank you amazon for having an awesome returns policy that looks after customers. That is why I shop mostly at amazon because they care about their customers unlike these cowboys. This product can only be described as a part functioning faulty prototype with aweful user interface with defective design flaws. In my opinion I would wait until sure flap release a timed selective exit unit. Dual scan.

Fantastic Product! Works exactly as I had hoped.
This is simply fantastic. I moved into my grandma's old house and needed a way for my little cat to get in and out. She has never used a flap before, previous landlady refused to allow a flap to be installed. Installation was pretty simple, 10 mins with a drill and a jigsaw. Programming was fairly simple too, activated the chip scanner, grabbed the cat and posted her from the outside back into the house and it was all done. Set the timer, which works perfectly. It did take her a few days to get used to it because every time she touched it the noise of the solenoid motor made her jump and run away! With some persistence I showed her that it was safe and she now uses it without any issues at all. I was worried about how quickly the reader would work from the outside and make her think it had locked her out, however I was pleased to see that when she was running back in to escape another cat it opened instantly and shut her new friend outside for them to howl at each other through the cat flap. I also find the indicator very handy, when I get home from work I can very quickly see if she's in or out. In summary, excellent. I'm sure that there will be people who don't have a similar experience. My cat is a bit of a wuss so she doesn't really try very hard to defeat the locking mechanism when it won't let her out, she just accepts that it's locked and walks away. If you've got a cat who can open doors etc then they might be able to unlock the flap. It bolts with the solenoid on 2 plastic pins in the center bottom of the flap. Really the 2 plastic pins should be further apart, as it allows the bottom corners to be pulled.

Updated… Unusable instructions and programming but works
This is not a cheap cat flap but it’s really poorly thought through. Setting the timer is like a 1980 Video player, so badly described in the instructions to be useless and endlessly going around in circles and resetting the clock again everytime. I got it so my cat could go out between certain times and could still come back anytime. It seems like this can’t do that. They can only go out at a set time Or come back through a set time Or go both ways in a set time If it is possible I have no idea how and there’s only so many time you can man handle a cat through to test it. This could have been great if they made the programming usable. I read reviews the programming was a problem but thought I could figure it out. I was wrong. Avoid this one it’s not worth it especially for the price. They should have invested in an app to make it easy and usable. Update I tried YouTube and they gave a way to programme the timer. It’s very backwards thinking so if you want to let your cat out between 8am and 5pm you need to programme it to only let you can back in from 5pm to 8am. You have to then just trust it’s both ways any other time. It’s completely back to front logic which is why the instructions are useless but I’m increasing the rating to a 3 because it now works. If it could be programmed easily it would have been a 5 star. Update I’ve had this for a while now. Once you go to YouTube and find the video of how to set it up then it works well. The instructions are still counter intuitive but they work well. I’ve upgraded the review to 4 stars. Something that would be a huge addition is some kind of light for the cat to know when it can go out or can’t go out. My cat just keep head butting it not knowing the time. Otherwise it’s good.

One of the best things I've bought
I read many review for many different cat flaps before finally deciding on this one . Its reasonably easy to install , mines in a UPVC door , I needed a drill and jigsaw. It takes 4 AA batteries , not included . The setting up of the functions was a bit fiddly but with patients and reading the instructions carefully , even I managed it . You have to press quite hard and in the middle of the small buttons. Its best to programme the cats microchip in before installing . Plenty of Dreamies enticed mine through the opened flap to do this . Then once installed sort out the rest of the programming . I had a little trouble programming in the actual now time . I felt the instructions weren't clear for that step but managed . Then i programme what time the flap unlocked and could be accessed both ways in the morning and what time it locked to 'come in only" at the night time by following the instructions . You must remember to save each step . Maybe an app on the phone would make programming a bit less fiddly , just a suggestion . I like the fact there is a little icon for each cat on the display strip that shows whether they are in or out . There is also apparently a function that shows how long they have been in or out but I haven't felt the need to set that up. There was mention of the flap being noisy when unlocking with the microchip recognition but my 2 kitties soon realised that noise ment it would open and let them through. . There was some catflap reviews of the flaps closing hard ,trapping tails . This flap closes gently on the tail if they don't move quickly through then locks once the tail is clear . I no longer feel guilty at having to leave my furry friends shut in the house while I'm on a long work day . Though a bit pricy I would highly recommend 5⭐️

Feels solid. Loud catch but cat has gotten used to it.
Excellent so far. The catch is loud nevertheless our timid cat succeeded in progressing to use the flap with catch after 24 hours of practice in training mode (silent without any catch noise). This door is significantly more robust than our previous (different brand) flap which failed to keep out intruders so I’m feeling confident this will have more chance! I’ve not tried the high security mode yet. The feature showing if your cat is home or out is a great feature. I’m also pleased to have 3 year guarantee as our old flap (different brand) failed shortly after its shorter guarantee expired!

It sucks rather badly
It really is rather awful. It is simple to install but that's about the best thing that I can say about it. I have 3 cats, none of which can get the damned thing to open with their microchips, despite being programmed in numerous times. The item is about 2 years old and it has utterly crapped out and been virtually unusable for several months, on top of consistent problems since a few months after installation. Today was the worst - I live in Asia, and a nice chap came in to fog the garden. It has to be done, no one wants dengue. Cats were in the garden, tried herding them in - but literally, herding cats never works so I hoped that they would get in from downstairs, where the catflap is, after reprogramming it yet again. Huge ruckus from downstairs as Minnie literally broke through the cat flat to get inside and away from the fogging - she actually threw herself against the catflap until it broke, and I didn't get there in time to open the door it's fitted in. She was chipped in, should have been able to potter through, but none of them can. I have done factory resets, I have reprogammed the cats in - I have tried everything. I can't even set it in training mode - only works for a few hours before it locks itself again. And, it has a terrible habit of locking and unlocking for 5 minutes every few hours, making a heck of a racket, for absolutely no reason. It absolutely sucks, and is a waste of money. And yes, I have carefully read all instructions, done everything that I should, and tried every troubleshooting option. It sucks. Do not buy.

only works with microchip or disc - no option just to use the timer function
Seems reasonable quality and good sized opening BUT it's not possible to use the cat flap without the microchip functionality enabled. This is a real nuisance because my cat doesn't like to put his head into the tunnel until he's pushed open the flap with his feet!

Fonctionne parfaitement

Works perfectly, if you follow instructions
I am thrilled by this. I loved my last Cat Mate door that worked with magnets, but my cats hated wearing the collar (I live in a place that they collected nails, debris, and the occasional UXO on the magnet), and so I had to leave it unlocked by taping down the latch. That worked for a year until another neighborhood finally cat learned to get in (but not out), wreaking havoc. So I upgraded to the one that reacts to the microchips in their necks, to avoid fighting with them about collars. It works perfectly. I had read the mixed reviews about this model and was nervous, but now am guessing it just REALLY needs to be installed exactly as instructed. I put a plank along their entry to ensure the exact 15cm specified for the height and the cats haven't given it a second thought, they don't even pause on the way in. They were initially alarmed by the little burr-click that it makes as they enter and exit, but they got used to that in two hours. (Some reviews made me fear it makes the sound throughout the night with self-checks but it does not--there is only a slight noise when they come in and out.) They have to push a little harder to open this one than the old one, but again, they learned fast, and it's good exercise. The door is slightly irritating to program for this day and age but it isn't at all hard, you just have to follow the very clear instructions to the letter. (Is there an app for that?) The best part is that the door so far recognizes their microchips instantly on approach and unlocks the door. They didn't need any training at all since they were familiar with the theory of pushing the old door. I love checking the time since they used it to know if they've been around in my absence, though too scared (of them) to try to use the available time controls to limit their movement. Also great improvement to enable a "training mode" for cats who don't take to it instantly, rather than having to tape down the latch, which was always a possible point of failure while I was on vacation. So, I recommend the company think about a much more intuitive, user friendly interface for future upgrades but am absolutely satisfied with ease of installation and performance. Thanks much! By the way, be careful when ordering to ensure you have the model that works with microchips, since the titles are very similar. Amazon was great about letting me return the wrong one.

The jury is still out...
The tunnel depth of the cat flap is 10 cm, which I was not aware of at the time of purchase. My door is only 6 cm thick. When I asked what should be done with the excess 4 cm, I was advised to saw off the surplus. However, there was a sticker on the cat flap clearly stating that nothing should be sawn off, as there is a wire running along the side. This is contradictory and concerning. Although I do not particularly mind the 4 cm excess, the conflicting instructions are problematic. After preparing the opening in the door, I proceeded to programme the cat flap. The registration of the cats worked without issue, and I was able to set the curfew between 19:00 and 06:00. However, there are no instructions explaining how to set the actual system time. I spent a frustrating hour attempting to resolve this (including consulting AI assistance), but without success. I have contacted customer support regarding this issue but have not yet received a response. We then installed the cat flap in the door, ensuring that it was correctly aligned and able to open in both directions. However, even when the cats were directly in front of the flap, it did not unlock or respond. I have now ordered ID tags at EUR 12 each and hope this will resolve the issue.
