Fullbore Metal is what you get.
If you want a bone crushing guitar sound with the density of a black hole, then this is the pedal for you. Subtlety isn’t on the menu here.

Fullbore to the max!
Truly a masterpiece pedal here by Dunlop. I'm a huge nu metal player and this caters for that perfectly. If your a player you downtunes and is partial to lots of palm muting mayhem then I strongly recommend this being in your collection. However I recommend playing this through a good amp. :D

doesn't melt faces, it caves them in.
Use this for my guitar and bass through a 5w tube, the distortion on this thing makes me want to punch people in the face. It's awesome! Pretty good in terms of dynamics too. However be warned this thing does nothing less than extreme.

Abhorrently marketed
The pedal itself is presumably good. Unfortunately I can't use it since it does not actually have a 9V battery compartment anywhere inside the pedal. I do not own the correct power supply either. This pedal does NOT support batteries and is very poorly marketed. The manual which came with the pedal also touts that there is a 9V slot when the back plate is removed. Again, this is not true.

Worst Distortion Ever?
I really love distortion pedals and I really love metal. It's rare that I find a distortion pedal that I don't like - although I like some better than others obviously. Over the last 5 years I've owned easily 30 different distortion pedals or more. Some I've sold and others are keepers. I've wanted to buy this Fullbore Metal pedal for at least a couple of years and I finally did last week. It was shocking how awful it sounded. I tried it in my amp's input, I tried it going straight into the return. I spent 30 minutes trying to get even an acceptable sound out of it but it was impossible. All I can say is that it's shocking how bad this sounds. Burzum would hear this distortion and think it sounds too unmusical and has too much treble. There's nothing good I can say about it at all other than it has a gate which works but it just sounds terrible. I really wanted to like it and I really tried to dial it in to an acceptable sound but it was not possible. I honest think this is the worst distortion I've ever used and I would recommend that everyone stay away from it.

This pedal is not for everyone. It is for people who want extremely high gain to shape and play with. The eq is fantastic and you can get a wide, wide variety of sounds with very slight adjustments. It is really easy to lose control of this pedal. When you first use it you should keep the gain at or below 9:00. More gain also means u should turn the high down accordingly. Sometimes I have the high all the way down. When you get more acquainted with it you learn to avoid unwanted noise. I'm using a Roland JC-120 for my amp, a Fender Strat Standard with a SD Hotrails for a bridge pickup. I found that the best placement in the chain is Ibanez Tube Screamer>MXR Fullbore Metal>Fulltone GT-500 boost/OD. After that I have my delays and phase etc. The Tube Screamer works amazingly well with the Fullbore Metal to add body and better palm muting without causing any nasty hum or feedback. I put the GT-500 after the FM simply for a volume boost when I need it. It's style of distortion sounds like they started with a Boss DS-1 and just added more gain, far better eq, and a noise gate. They also added bite, anger, hiss, insanity, and when you let it off the leash a little more I swear it spits at you. It's better than I thought it would be. I had and sold a Boss metal zone, a Metal Muff, a Modtone Flextortion, and a DOD Supra Distortion all while looking for this. The only other pedal I am considering is a Wampler Triple Wreck, but for now I'm all set with this MXR Fullbore Metal.

I love this pedal. For me it has the perfect distortion tone for metal. This is the second time buying this pedal. My first one was second hand and old and I already had to solder in a new input jack as it was shorting out. Wanted to snag another one before they discontinued it.

Funktioniert einfach ohne Nachzudenken. Fazit: Mit dem Teil kannst Du Dir so ziemlich jeder Metalsound basteln, den Du brauchst. No limits. Alle Möglichkeiten. Und nach oben sind keine Grenzen gesetzt! Äh, nein, ich arbeite nicht für Dunlop. Aber das Teil geb ich nicht mehr her. Das ist jeden Cent wert.
